Why does someone say, "it is nice to see someone of color in the White House" and he continues to say "I was hoping to see this happen in my lifetime". Hummm....

Seems like the words "qualifications" and "character" and "experience" have NOTHING to do with the racist who said this... and with the other racist like Oprah and and her type.

So... who said the above?

Do you view it as Racist?

Personally, I find it racist. No one can site ANYTHING other than draw on the fact that "HE AINT WHITE" as the beauty of this cat becoming President.

Well, Galazio I have no idea who made the statement, what context the statement was made, nor why it was made. For all I know, it have been made in an ugly racist mannor or just the opposite.
But--- in general, I would imagine there are a host of reasons for such comments. Although I was a bit young at the time, I understand there were many such comments made (and still are) when John Kennedy broke the protestant barrier in 1960. Much ado was made over the fact that a Catholic was elected President. I would venture to guess, that today most (not all)people in the U.S. wouldn't give a shit as to whether someone is protestant, Catholic or Jewish.
I can cite the biggest and only really important reason why Obama was elected president of the United States--- sit back, ya ready for this one?
Because the majority of our democracy wanted him as president. See that's how we as a democracy play this game---- pretty simple uh?

Asking one's thoughts on if certain comments are racist, IS NOT racist, or in my opinion, opening a can of worms.

So, La Gringa... what do you think? Do you find it racist when "someone of color" (his words, not mine) states "it is incredible" that this has happened, but refused to comment on anything other than skin color as what makes it so "incredible"???

I am someone of color. Its not the same color as the guy you are quoting, but it's a color.

As for that someone finding it incredible that a mixed racial candidate got democratically chosen as President, I have more of a problem with people assuming they can arbitrarily limit my right to speak as freely as they can.

And I have a problem with rudeness.
