    WMO Blues

Ok, owner of the boat just informed me Wednesday morning that everyone has changed their mind about fishing the WMO. I have made calls trying to hustle up another crew of sponsors. The original crew said that money was tight (I guess all of the sudden). I am in a situation now where I can't fish the WMO on this boat. I have fished with this boat for a few years now very succesfully with a blue and 3 whites in the WMO two years ago. Lots of nice tunas and mahi. Ok, so the crew can't come up with the money. Against my best common sense, and probably just because I am commited to fishing it next week already, I suggested to the owner of the boat that maybe they just enter the boat and one or two calcuttas to keep the cost low. They haven't jumped on that idea to date, so I consider it dead at this point. Two questions, (1) is anyone else going through this dilema, and (2) does anyone at this point need a good mate or a second captain for the WMO. I am in a pinch here and deffinitely do not want to sit on the side lines for this one. Any help here will be greatly appreciated. PM me or reply

Sorry to hear of the crew backing out!!!

One question...........why didn't you or the owner collect the money before hand that way they are committed. If they back out just like now, the boat is still fishing??

I've heard many times about backing out at the last minute.

Thats rough... I fish tounaments basically full time. My main team deal has been solid as a rock. The freelance end of it though has been brutal this year.
Lost one to tournament actually not running due to lack of interest. Another to a boat issue. Then a couple to tight money. Usually I can put a crew together pretty quick for open boat tournies and that has even felt the pinch. Had yet another where the guy couldn't swing paid crew...
    I wish you luck buddy...

    It does suck.

I hate sitting on the sidelines now for 2nd year in a row, but w/o da sponsors it makes things difficult.

Not the only crew to have this happen over the past two days, good luck finding someone. Hope you get out there.

Yeah I have always been a firm believer of a deposite preferably half down, but these guys had fished 4 tourneys with us and killed a lot of fish, just so happens all of them are either in the housing market or indirrectly related to it and I think they have fallen on some tight times here lately. I sounds like this has happened more than I thought here recently. I hope that the economy turns around here soon. I think that it causes a lot of people to rethink their spending. Things will turn around in the future. I just don't want to sit on the side lines next week thats all neither does the boat owner. It would be awesome to put together another crew, but of course we are short on time. I am sorry for each and every crew member that this has happened to this year, but like I said as good as the fishing is no one wants to sit the side lines for the big dance.
