    Wisconsin's Walker Punked - Recalled in 2012

I don't think I've ever seen such a remarkable change in political fortunes as I've seen with Gov. Walker in WI. He's just gotten into office when he forces a showdown with powerful union forces over questionable budget deficits that he and other Republicans in the state had a decisive hand in creating, then has the stupidity to answer a phone call from a journalist who punks him into a convincing display of political mendacity and now has poll numbers lower than whale dung. All in less than 60 days in office.

I expect he'll be recalled by the voters in WI in 2012. The state, apparently, has a statute that allows the recall of government officials after they've been in office one year. That's going to be exact length of his tenure, I suspect.

Unless you have your own political agenda, I'm trying to figure out why you feel that way. I listened to the bogus call and he didnt say anything he hasnt already said in public. The punker, an opposition hack, made all the idiot remarks, most of which Walker had the common sense to not respond to. As far as being punked, he should be more aware that his opposition will stoop to any level possible to hurt him. Safe to say he learned a valuable lesson. He will continue to do what he was elected to do, which is what he is doing. His approval has only fallen in polls sponsored by his opponents, none independent. Like him or not, he was elected to do exactly what he is doing.
These hard line standoffs are a harbinger of things to come, not just in WI.

He didn't say anything he'd not already said in public? Ummm. Not So.

    Ok, I'll bite.

Here's six revelations in the taped call that I'll bet you can't find in any of Scott Walker's public pronouncments before the call. But I'll admit he's talking about some of these schenangan now as he's backtracking.

    1. Walker and the Senate Republicans are conspiring to withhold Democratic lawmakers' paychecks.

A minute into the call, Governor Walker describes a plan by the Senate Majority Leader to institute a new rule that would stop automatic deductions of lawmakers' paychecks if they do not appear in the Senate for more than two days. It would require lawmakers to appear in person to collect their checks.

Walker describes this as part of a plan he is working on with GOP Senators: "Each day, we're going to rachet this up a little bit."

    2. Walker sees billionaire David Koch as "one of us."

Two and a half minutes in, Walker is describing a conversation he had with a Democratic state lawmaker, Tim Cullen, who Walker says is the "only reasonable" one among the Democrats. When the man pretending to be Koch suggests he calls Cullen, Walker says that although Cullen is reasonable, he is not "one of us." Who is the "us" that includes Walker and out-of-state billionaire Koch, but not an elected state legislator?

    3. Walker is planning to threaten state workers with layoffs.

Five minutes into the call, Governor Walker says he is planning to issue between 5,000 and 6,000 "risk notices" to state workers announcing that they are at risk of being laid off. He makes this statement in the context of what he is planning to do to put pressure on Democrats to cave into his demands, not what is necessary due to the budget crunch. "If they want to start sacrificing thousands of public workers to be laid off," he says, "sooner or later there's gonna be pressure on Senators to come back. We're not going to compromise."

    4. Walker has a plan to lie to Senate Democrats and pass the bill while they are not aware of the vote.

Seven minutes in, Walker describes a plan created by his chief of staff to call Senate Democrats back to "hear what they have to say." While he is discussing the issues with the Democrats, the Senate would be in recess. In actuality, once Democrats come back to the state assembly, Republicans would be able to pass the bill eliminating collective bargaining rights while Walker is in discussions with Democrats.

    5. Walker considered planting fake protesters to cause trouble among the real protesters.

Fourteen and a half minutes in, the fake David Koch says that they are considering "planing some troublemakers" among the crowd of protesters. Walker responds with, "we thought about that." He expresses no moral objection to the plan, but says that he thinks it is the wrong strategy, because a "ruckus" would make people think he should compromise.

    6. Walker is corrupt.

Although early in Walker says they are investigating the Democratic Senators to see if they are committing ethics violations by accepting union funds, when the fake David Koch says he will fly Walker "out to Cali and really show you a good time," Walker responds by saying "that would be outstanding."

    Walker's toast.

By the way, he was hired to bring jobs to WI. Not kill them.

...doesn't address the issue of my post, that quite opposite of what you said in your original reply, there were many, many things that the punk call revealed about Scott Walker that he had not previously disclosed publicly. And, some of those things were Nixonian to the hilt.

Legal Repurcussons May Haunt Walker's Phone Gaff...

    http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/...commend-walker

Looks like some in WI are going to prefer charges against Walker for what appear to be multiple ethics violations on his punked phone call.

I hear WI'ers are pretty straight-shooting folks and are not fond of unethical politicians.

    He's toast.

Open Records Request Filed for Walkers' E-mails and Other Communications

Center for Media and Democracy filed an open records request for the Governor's phone records, email records, and other communications. They say, "Perhaps these records will help us understand all the influences behind the Governor's recent radical actions."

It's apparent that the Governor opened a can of worms that's going to come back and bite him squarely on the butt.

I note that similar union-busting efforts in other mid-west state legislatures have been abandoned by those states' governors in light of the increasingly rancorous protests in WI. I suppose other Republican governors's staffs have advised them of the power of quicksand.
