Winter in Maine - Gotta luv it

Ayuh, gotta luv winter in Maine.

    Welcome to my world.

The forecast for Thursday is a balmy 11 degrees and low temp is predicted to be -5 degrees. Maybe I'll strip down to the tee-shirt and get a head start on my summer tan.

What decides to happen to my 06' Sierra GMC this week? You guessed it, heater broke. Not only do I have to scrape the ice from the outside of the windshield to drive, I need to scrape the ice from the inside of the windshield to drive.

I've heard the new Chevy's and GMC's are notorious for having heater problems. It might just need a resistor which is a quick fix if the wires aren't all burned up.

That's the forecast from the lobster state. There's still people in this country that believe Maine is part of Canada.

Used to have a place in West Baldwin Maine, ayuh, you don't know where it is, Cornish and Hiram area, When I used to show up to go snowmobiling with my friends it was 33 below in the house, and the chimneys were full of snow...it took a while for the wood stoves to melt their way through to create a draft....cold up there but the air is the best...been up to Monhegan, Bailey's Island, Cape Porpoise in years gone by, just make it to the Shoals now......

My main concern with the heater thing is I have an appointment at 9AM Thursday to get it fixed. The drive to the dealer takes about a half hour and I'm thinking with a high temp of 11 degrees, I might be dead from hypothermia before I get there. So if you don't hear from me again after Thursday, I'm probably somewhere in Maine frozen to my steering wheel. As for beer, I'm quite partial to Sheepscot Pemaquid, which is brewed and bottled right he'yah in Whitefield, Maine.

    Hey Storm

I had the same problem last winter with my previous chevy, no heat from heater/defroster.....It was a quick fix, less than $200..problem stems from condensation from ac system, which drips onto electrical component(maybe a resistor) and causes failure. Mine actually looked like it could have caused a fire. The burnt out part is located just above where the front seat passengers feet would be located.
Doesnt look like its going to warm up anytime soon here in the noreast.....good luck

    Aye, aye, Cap'n,

That's the area where my problem stems from. For awhile I could fix the problem by wiggling the wires over on the passenger side. I could smell the wires cooking. Once again, I get punished for my procrastination.
