But seriously, solo fishermen do fall overboard and lose their life or their rigs quite often. I remember a few years ago a guy fishing out of Wrightsville Beach fell over and treaded water for 7 or 8 hours before luckily being rescued. Also, a few months back, a guy out of Ocean Isle fell over and his boat ran itself aground in Myrtle Beach. He was never found. Very sad but also very preventable.
This is where most people would go on a rant about not going offshore by yourself... I won't do that because I would and have gone offshore by myself in a heartbeat. I like "alone" time while fishing or hunting, can be more enjoyable every once in a while. You can also fall out of a tree while deer hunting but people do that solo all the time.
I bet more people are injured falling out of tree stands than falling out of boats by far...
