But I'm unfamiliar with the term "slob flounder". Perhaps you meant slab, but I had to chuckle at the image the term slob flounder brought to mind. That was my first thought, anyway, on reading the term.

My second tought was priceless. That is that I'm almost certain LowTide could be relied upon to readily produce a picture of something that would perfectly fit that term. He's pretty darned skilled at that, really impressive.

LT? How about it? Got a pic of a "slob flounder?" Anyone?

I have several barely-used stretch lures, up to 30s but...

...all they seem to catch are Crevelle Jacks. They don't even catch Kingfish here even though Kingfisher will hit most anything.

Maybe it's the trolling speed. I tend to run them with KingGetters on the surface and those lures are so erratic in their motion that they must be trolled very slowly or they'll pop out and wrap a hook around the line and then just twist on the line catching nothing.

I never thought of using the Stretch lures on flounder but I did read a magazine article once of someone catching monster flounder on deep trolled lures in the Potomac and in the nearby bay. At the time, I thought if I had the right lure it might do well in the Galveston Ship Channel, project depth 44'. The channel is flanked by extensive flats that come up to about 6' in depth and that's where most of the visible bait seems to be along with some smaller flounder.

You think dragging the Stretches deeper in the channel would do any good. My wife is an absolute nut for flounder and we can still catch two over 18 in November (the limit's higher in other months of the year).

If you think so, may I ask how you'd recommend rigging them and perhaps even some hints about colors and trolling speeds?

    Thanks again for your civility.

Big flounder at least in our neck of the woods eat a few things....long strip baits like squid strips, founder belly.....yes thats right a 10" strip of flounder belly on a 2-3 oz bucktail is deadly for doormats....we are blessed with an very productive series of artificial reefs within an easy run of most southern jersey ports, they consist of concrete reef balls, donated ship wrecks, military equipment ie tanks, NY city subway cars.....lots of structure to fish within a few miles of the beach.....the size lmits make it tough some days adit sucks to et go 25 17 3/4" flounder....which are perfect eating size.....but rules are rules and we follow them. We catch the big ones in october and november on the stretches while trolling for stripped bass.....by catch is what we call it.
