You will notice we have a member here named WAHOONBOX.

Been helping, teaching, and encouraging people on here for over 2 years to get fishing and help others learn.

Now beware the man only types in CAPS!

You will find just about every type of member that your pointed out in your article on this site. But you really need to understand that on this site most of these people fish all the time. They are boat owners, capt.'s or mates.

I have alot I would like to say about your article but fact is I understand where your coming from. Most forums are poorly run and have bad buisness models.
Fact is though I have wasted my money on many a magazines over the years.

Just look for the diamond in the ruff and invest your money there.
Websites are the same way. Some suck and some are good. Just depends on the people running the site and there frame of mind.

But please understand that there are webmasters out there working there butts off to build a healthy online fishing community.

With over 250,000 readers a month for offshore fishing and boating and over 2000 fishing videos online we have found away to entertain the fishermen on there off time.

I set out three years ago to build the best fishing site online not the largest.
Promised myself I would demand good content and not run the site on drama.

Even though we dont grow as fast as the sites bashing boat builders and slamming the fishermen for killing a fish im very happy with the results.

As always I enjoy your RAG man and will continue to read it.

Mr BrownLee, Just some quick thoughts here on your article. First, i would like to dispell the myth that this is a forum. No Sir, SFC is a family ... We go out of our way to support each other Even those individuals who TYPE IN CAPS, if you stay awhile, that individual is the number one guy to help everyone.

As far as your classifications, all of our minds probably went to someone we thought fit that classification, but let me ask you this, if you go to a large family reunion can you classify your relatives in that same class system????, i can .

I guess my point is, forums ( families) are tremendous for people. Where else do people learn about boating and fishing ??? you can't turn on the tv and learn, unless you want to learn antiques from the road show. You can get your magazine to learn, but then was it right to slight the internet and its forums, another source of learning, in your magazine ?

Make ya a deal here, John, stay on this site for 30 days, and see if you don't change your mind ..... Heck you may even want to advertise on an INTERNET FORUM.

Welcome John, I saw some humor in your article but I also see the truth in the outdating of magazines. I for one have left my subscriptions all lapse and have missed none for the most part.I also was burdened with magazine piles at high costs that layed in pile until I had time to dispose of them or check out something someone mentioned was a good read.
A change in the winds says I
Again Welcome and thanks for responding.

It was never my intention to put down forums or the Internet in any way. I participate in quite a few of them and enjoy them, and websites will peacefully coexist with magazines for many years to come. Each have distinct advantages, so why not utilize them? And I do plan on sticking around, a good forum is a tremendous asset!

Welcome to the site, stick around and see what this place is all about.

I still am not sure who I am , just kidding.

BTW, great magazine and I do utilize the magazine and its content. The issue prior had a nice double page spread on the 25s

Thanks Mary! But if you're a Contender dealer, surely you recognize the sales and marketing guy from south Florida that I referred to in my editorial??
