Where is the gas tank ?

Just got this in a email, Whood a ever thunk it.

I have been driving for nearly 40 years... I would think I should have noticed the little secret on my dashboard that was staring me in the face the whole time...I didn't...and I bet you didn't either...

Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the gas station wondered...mmm, which side is the gas filler cap?

If you look at your gas gauge, you will see a small icon of a gas pump?
The handle of the gas pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the gas pump?
If your tank is on the left, the handle will be on the left? If your tank is on the right, the handle will be on the right .

Now Wheres that damn release lever ?

Where would the handle be if your gas fill is under your liscense plate or you drive a corvette which has the gas fill in the center of the trunk area.

Where's the gas tank filler pipe for that?

Answer: Port side forward of the drivers side door......

Tell me I wasn't $hittin bricks......hoping that it TRULY WAS the gas filler pipe.....and not some German thing where you store flat beer or sumthin

Unless its in the middle,It's always on the opposite side of your exhaust pipe. But what if your exhaust comes out the middle,then I guess it could be port or starboard. Damn this get's confusing.... Aw shit, I can't afford enough gas @ one time to remember which side my gas cap is on,so I always drive around the parking lot a couple off times before I figure it out...

Some cars do have an arrow on the gas gauge, Ford and GM seem to be decent about this but the europeans aren't. I don't drive Asian cars so I can't say, but they usually copy the europeans.
