Where Do We Go From Here ?,

I got to thinking about what Deep C had to say on a previous post. The statement was about Obama's approval number's severly dropping in the poll's already. It's only been a month and it just seem's not to be happening, the "CHANGE" I mean. I remember back when Carter was President and Reagan came in, there was immediate change. Overnight the mood of the Country went to the positive. I know in my own mind that Obama is no Reagan, but if this thing doesn't take shape soon, what then? I'm not getting down on him, regardless of how it sound's. If this "change" thing is a flop this early on, where are we going to be in 4 year's? Really think about it. I have all the faith in the world about this Country and it's citizen's. I think together we can overcome just about anything. But this early on is unsettling to me, we should still be on our "honeymoon". Frank,SeaPower

For a supposedly smart guy,'bama's forgotten recent history....no country has ever successfully tamed 'Stan....the last time it was tried the Russians threw everything they had at it and walked away limping.

WADR -Obama is no Reagan...not by a long shot.

Here's were we are heading USSA. The United Socialist States of America. If you read any of this so called stimulis, weres it headin. Frank from what I tell you run your own business, no soup for you. Marine from what i can tell you are in construction, well we had been toldthat money would be going into building. So you should have gotten somethin but now that its out very little has been earmaked for that it got eaten by the pork. No soup for you! Who gets the soup, the poor. Cause they will stimulate the economy lets extend there bennies and keep them on the govt teet. (thats gonna ensure re election). This mortgage stim plan whose gonna benefit. The same peopl who got us here. Freddie and Fannie, and the poor people who had mortgages shoved down there throat by unscrupeles banks. huh
I'm all for given the guy a chance but so far everything out of his mouth has been bull and lies. I also blame the repubs. Come on the best they could wheel out in front was Mc Cain. I truly believe that this country will keep on sliding untill we get a legit 3rd party in this country.
I'm not a fan of stimulis, but if you needed to stimulate, go through and stimulate the middle class, the back bone of this country, the workers the small business in this country. Than you can get somethin stimulated. I needed to rant Thanks Tim I know my spellin stinks sorry.

If Ron Paul was a 6'2", handsome, nice dressed dude... maybe more people would LISTEN to what he HAS BEEN SAYING for a LONG TIME.

There is a reason we have and keep him in here in Texas.

(EDIT: and if Jesse Ventura looked more like Ron Paul, then maybe more people would listen to him too. Same message, different package).

    A conumdrum

I am confused. I admit I don't know what is really going on.

Also I have no power. All my political hopes are in tatters.

Is the stimulus necessary? It looks like CENTRAL PLANNING. Or is it sound policy?

I would intuitively have preferred business and personal tax cuts in order to put the money in the peoples' hands. Then there would have been the opportunity of the "hidden hand" made famous by Adam Smith, "Wealth of Nations", to do its work. Or is Adam Smith a relic of the past? Is capitalism dead?

Is the policy of using taxpayers money to prop up bad decisions, autos, banks, mortgages, etc. sound policy?

What is the role of "creative destruction" (Schumpeter) whereby the old, irrelevant policies, products, and procedures give way to the new and modern?

Are we on the virge of birthing a new, glorious era or are we looking into the abyss?

Big, capatilism is not dead. It's getting a foot hold in places like china and the former soviet union. As they gravitate towards a free market society we are moving to a socialist society. Pretty scary huh. None of these stimulis packages repub or demon is going to work cause it is riddled with pork. the economy needs checks and balances. We are rewarding bad decision makers and keeping them in control while giving the people that had no business borrowing and over extending themselves ways out with no consequences. Its going to be a painful and long road fellas buckle up. Tim

legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person
receives without working for, another person must work for

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have
to work because the other half is going to take care of
them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no
good to work because somebody else is going to get what they
work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any

Most of the folks on this site are free marketeers. Individualists. Outdoors people. Men who have carved out their own niche. People who work hard, pay taxes, and ask for few favors.

These are the people I want to hang out with. Go fishing with. Exchange ideas and encourage each other.

But we are facing a strong headwind. The political forces are not in our favor. We are at present like a ship without a rudder or perhaps like a crew without a Captain. We are looking for leadership.

This fellow, Michael Steele, the new head of the Republican Party fished on my boat off Ocean City. I found him to be the most polite person ever to step on my boat. I remember him standing at the rail saying, "Captain, permission to board". We talked on the bridge. He seemed to be a guy more interested in principle than personal advancement. He looks to be a man we can rally with.

I am interested in working with anyone to advance a conservative free market agenda. It must be an agenda with principle and integrity. No liars, no criminals, no people who would shave the truth to take advantage. Palin, Jindal, Romney come to mind. Petraeus and Odierno are obvious leaders.

Hopefully we will work through this period and come through with only superficial damage. The great harm we must avoid is a loss of our individual spirit and a surrender to collectivism and becoming a faceless form in the mass of humanity.

That is, by far, the best summarized version of what ALOT of folks have been wanting, waiting for...but for some reason we keep electing greedy idiots then standing back complaining about it,

Definition of insanity: Continually repeating the same stupid action...and each time expecting different results
