GOP hopeful Newt Gingrich defended his stance against certain child labor laws during a campaign stop in Iowa Thursday, saying that children born into poverty aren’t accustomed to working unless it involves crime.
“Really poor children, in really poor neighborhoods have no habits of working and have nobody around them who works so they have no habit of showing up on Monday,” Gingrich claimed.
“They have no habit of staying all day, they have no habit of I do this and you give me cash unless it is illegal,” he added.
I'll bet that plays well in the primaries which are stuffed by Tea Party idiots/racists/elitists.
It ain't gonna play in the middle, and, the middle decides every single presidential election.

You don't get out of the house much. While Newt is not the guy I am rooting for, I do respect him for saying what may not be politically correct. We need to get back to calling a spade a spade. All this dancing around the fact's as we all know is not very productive. If some toe's get stepped on, as long as it's the truth, stomp away! Frank
Frank - don't be going all racist - Who you calling a toe?![]()
"There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot." --STEVEN WRIGHT [SIGPIC]t[/SIGPIC]
why chastise him..he's right. I've done work for HUD,I've worked in poor black neighborhoods..at 11AM the working age "men" milling around on the corners smoking& drinking is staggering, most had cars..most were wearing top brand name clothing.. NONE of them had a job. Spade+spade stomp.
You see how reflexively you define the poor as black.
Are you unaware of the poverty in America among whites?
Gingrich's statements ARE VERY LIKELY INTENDED TO DEMONSTRATE HIS OWN DISDAIN FOR BLACKS. I wouldn't put that beyond the pale for any Republican. But taken literally, his statements apply to all in poverty.
I grew up poor. So too did Deep and others on this board. Some of us white folks are still poor and some deeply impoverished. This is especially so given what the white banksters have done to the world's economy and to ours, in particular.
So, he's talking out his arse. I have no criminal record whatsoever and don't recall ever committing a crime (but a read a book once titled Three Felonies a Day which said that the average American citizen commits that many because of the remarkably complex system of zany and out of date laws that remain on the books). Most of you who were poor didn't commit crimes either, I'll wager. Most blacks who are poor don't either, just like you when you were poor.
Over time I've come to realize that what the so-called conservatives on this board cannot understand, cannot conceptualize and to a great degree cannot permit is the concept of moral relativism. The faults you see in others who are different from you are identical to your own and vary only perhaps in their degree and frequency of occurrence. But you cannot bring yourselves to even entertain the possibility of you being as flawed as others much less admit it is true.
Examples.
Remember the famous stoning thread?
Remember the famous thread where I pointed out that Irene's devastation brought out the welfare queens in those of you who are white and on the east coast who were effected.
Remember the thread about how none of you and really no American ever got rich on his own, but rather, relied on society and it's protections and gifts to become successful? That didn't stop most of you from falesly claiming that you and other white and successful business owners alone coupled with your unique talents deserve all the credit? And, it didn't stop you from saying that you deserved all the rewards of your success and society could soak it's damned head in gasoline before you'd agree that you should be taxed disproportionately.
Remember the Xmastian broohaha that resulted from me saying the Israelis are acting towards the Palestinians (ethnic cleansing) in much the same was that the Nazis acted towards the Jews and asked why you cannnot seem to bring yourselves to condemn both the horrors that were brought upon the Jews AND the horrors currently being wrought by the Jews?
Those are all instances of where on this board I attempt to bring balance to your self-serving rants. And, they clearly distinguish your darkest flaw...
YOU ARE UTTERLY INCAPABLE OF HOLDING WITHIN YOUR HEADS THE CONCEPT OF MORAL RELATIVISM. YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF EVEN CONSIDERING YOUR OWN FAULTS MIGHT BE THE SAME AS OTHERS YOU CONDEMN, MUCH LESS OF EVER ACTUALLY SPENDING A FEW MOMENTS OF SELF-REFLECTION ON THE TOPIC.
My belief is that you think so stupidly because you are genuinely stupid. And, I believe that stupidity is why you appear to be so revolted by (afraid of, really) intellectualism...FRANK. I believe that's why you conservatives so routinely vote for dolts...because you cannot "trust" the smart ones to be like and think like you. I believe that's why the Tea Party exists...because your ranks are swelled to over-brimming with dumbasses.
At this point I want to invoke the standard disclaimer about Zummie, Glenn W, Marine and a few others. They 're not quite as far gone as some of you country rubes are.

My Son's at A&M now, didn't get into MIT. So, as an Aggie Dad I get a lot of stuff mailed to me from A&M, particularly newsletters and the like.
One recent newsletter had a discussion of the new anti-harrassment policy at A&M which also prohibits proseletizing (spelling?). That's what go a lot of people's lather up, the prohibition against prosteletizing.
The Commander of the Corps of Cadets chimed in and said these prohibitions were but part of a larger left-wing effort to make everything politically correct. So as to not allow my son to drift too far from reality while at that notoriously conservative university, I took the time to jot down a little note to my son about what is and isn't mere political correctness. It's a simple definition that even someone like the Commander of the Corps of Cadets could be expected to understand.
Something is no longer merely politically incorrect when it's regulated or even prohibited by statute, by regulation or by policy. After the point that it's regulated or prohibited engaging in it in opposition to those statutes, regulations or policies is called an infraction and, in some cases, a crime.
Pretty simply to understand, huh?

I'm glad you had the chance to sit Junior down and write him a note on what to think. Guess after the year's growing up in your house hold, he expected it. By the way, I wish him the best in his college endevour. Frank
In a week, Newt and Caine will be distant memories, that will leave Mitt, which I believe has been the tactic all along, throw a bunch of nitwits up there and have them fall away and leave Mitt, about all the Reps can muster up....and he won't win against Obama....as I know no one in MA that would vote for him, along whatever anti-mormonism sentiments....I'm afraid it's 4 more years of Obama, especially since he's bringing the boys home from Iraq and Afghanistan as promised...the only one that can beat him is...........
My dear LongFisher, you are showing your insecurities quite plainly for all on this board to see. You keep mentioning the same list of name's at the end of some of your post's, as to say "look these guy's get what I'm saying too". Well fact of the matter is two of those you keep listing to bolster your opinion's, I have had the chance to chat with on numerous occasion's. Here via PM and directly on the phone. Both have open invitation's to come and participate in some "manly activities" around the SeaPower Spread. One was actually a (and still is) a Proud Marine (not to be confused with the Peace Corps), who now own's his own very prominent construction business. The other was a US Navy Aviator (yes an Officer), who is now a prominent lawyer. While I don't agree with their position's all the time I do respect them because both are of unquestionable character. I can assure you that NEITHER could give a rat's A S S if you agree with them or not, as they are quite capable of thinking for themselves and can back up said position's. BigFishBilly is also one that has no problem taking charge of his thought's. Zummie seem's to me to be an alright guy, whether we agree or not.
LongFisher as can be seen on other web site's that you have visited in the past, one can see that you're really not the "brainiac" you think you are. Question's about how to bolt the wheel's back up on that super GM dually of your's, how the winodw's in your wife's DeVille roll up, or some of the question's you pose on the electronic's site (which by the way any of my kid's could answer). Guess that pretty much just leaves me, well Sir your opion about my intelligence matter's not to me as well. I for one am very secure in who I am, as I am the same guy all the time. Learned it all the hard way, hard learned lesson's tend to stick with you. It's a wise man that can accept his strong point's and his weaknesses, we all have them. You currently (well scince the time you've spent on SFC) have intelligence and arrogance confused. I can only imagine why you (and your family, because of you) are harrassed so. Your Son has done a good thing going off to College, it's time for him to be his own man. Let him be the man he desire's, he may well suprise you that he will be quite capable of thing for himself. That's all the time I have to waste with you for the moment. Hug's and Kisses, Frank
Inviting your neighborhood negro alcoholic over to get s h i t faced with you at your table, does not constitute race relation's. Again, Hug's and Kisses, Frank
