If a hose blows or springs a leak and you don't have a replacement, wrapping a piece of inner tube around it with a couple of hose clamps will get you a long way.
great thread...i have a lot of the things listed above but will add more bc some of these things make sense. of course, i may have to move the bootstripe/waterline on the boat.
one thing i haven't seen posted that i keep in a bag in a easy to get to place in the salon...an always charged power nut driver, a manual nutdriver, a box of hexhead selftapping screws, some pieces of 6" by 12" 1/4" plywood, and some rubber car mats as an emergency big hole repair.
Being that our boat is a 30' Albemarle Express there is not much engine bay space.
but we have in there:
1) 2 gallons of fresh Rotella Oil
2) 2 fresh replacement fuel filters for the motors (CAT)
3) 6 fresh Racor filter replacements (double what we need, 4 for the motors, 2 for the gen)
4) Small 3 gallon container of Diesel to top off the racors if they need to be swapped
5) Set of alternator belts for each motor
6) Set of inner water pump drive belts for each motor
Not in the engine room but in the tool box
7) Set of tools (extensive, metric wrenchs, sockets, the works)
8) 2 fresh raw water impellars
9) Heavy Duty Strap Wrench
10) JB Weld
11) Marine Tek
12) different replacement electrical solenoids and components that have gone on us in the past
Probably lots of other stuff i am forgetting to mention as well.
