Something cheap or old from head to toe, cuz if your sportfishing correctly, you will get covered in blood & slime.
Hello, this is my first post here. This forum looks great and I look forward to reading and learning more here. I fish offshore out of Hillsboro Inlet (Pompano Beach) nearly every weekend. We fish off of a 30' Grady White Marlin. I have been fishing off this boat here for about 10 years now. I usually just wear something that I dont mind throwing away when I get done. I must admit though I do like the aftco shorts. They dry really fast, have lots of useful pockets, and I seem to get them as a gift pretty often, so those I do use when I can. The main goal is to protect yourself from the sun and getting/staying wet. In addition, you should wear shoes that are boat friendly, and it isnt a bad idea to spend a little extra here. I learned the hard way to have a dedicated pair of boat shoes. and wear short socks with them. If you only wear them on the boat they last a long time.. If you are sun sensitive, I would start with some sort of waterproof sun protection. I have been using Bull Frog, but thats just because I happen to have some. there are many types that are similar to this. You are looking for the type that sort of burns when you put it on. That way you wont sweat it off.. In addition, a hat and sunglasses (polarized) are pretty much mandatory. If your a bit older like me they actually make bi-focal style fishing glasses that are awesome. Check at eyeglass stores for them. Some people even cover their face with a bandanna or cloth mask. I am not really for that last one. a hat and sunglasses usually does the trick. I would also recommend a good quality (spend money here) rain coat. Bring it even when you dont think youll need it. I have come back shivering in the middle of august in 90 degree on shore weather. Hypothermia happens. Whew. One last thing. If your port of call is not your home, bring a dry change of clothes and a first aid kit and put them in your car. Thats how I get it done. Good luck to you all!

Michael Vick's Atlanta Falcons jersey.![]()
wear stuff that is conmfortable. it really depends on the region and time of the year as what to wear. always prepare for the unexpected
Plain white t-shirts work well and anything old.
Whatever you do... wear shoes that drain or otherwise your feet and shoes will stink so bad that even the fish will want to stay away from you..![]()
Cargo shorts and white 100% cotton short sleeve T-shirts for me - the blood spots become badges of honor.
I've worn the high-tech wicking stuff - it makes me sticky and hot.
down here in the Caribbean a pair of board shorts or short jeans or cargo pants and an old t shirt is the norm. long sleeve t shirts are becoming a popular alternative to sunscreen. also depending on the weather shirts are optional
