The U.S Dept of Commerce sent me a notice to inform me that my 2010 census will arrive in one week.

On top of all the tax $$$ wasted on commercials on the radio .How much did this cost????????

I got the same stupid letter. A letter telling me that I'm going to get a letter. What a monumental waste of OUR money.

I think the Constitution allows the govt. to COUNT the population every 10 years or so. All this other data they're asking for seems like an invasion of privacy at the least.

When they ask for race, I'm going to check "other" and write in AMERICAN.

I cannot think of many things as fundamentally important--- with it roots and needs supporting our very form and structure of the US government than the Census.
The Census by law (going back to about 1790) serves as the very basis of how YOU are represented in the House of Representatives, How many House seats there will be in each state, and the boundries of such states. Other such "trivial" matters include the foundation for funding to and from states from the Federal Governement, for Transportation, education, and Commerce.
In short, the Census is the only way we have if dividing up the various pies to and from the Federal Government and how YOU are Represented in Congess.

The letter the original poster was talking about is NOT the ACTUAL CENSUS....it's a FORM LETTER TELLING YOU THAT YOU WILL BE GETTING A CENSUS FORM in a week...I got the same stupid...wasteful letter.....
