I AM CLUELESS HERE. IN THE LAST 24 HOURS THERE HAVE BEEN 1414 MEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN ON THIS SITE. ONE WOULD THINK THAT THERE WOULD BE MORE RESPONSE TO THE NEW FORUM JOHN PUT UP TO HELP US VOICE OUR OPINIONS TO THE POWERS TO BE IN WASHINGTON. SO DOES NO ONE CARE? I JUST DID A QUICK RUNDOWN THRU THE STATES LISTED AND THUS FAR ONLY 28 MEMBERS HAVE RESPONDED WITH WHAT FISHING MEANS TO THEM AND THERE HAVE BEEN 1176 VIEWS. DO MOST PEOPLE JUST NOT GIVE A SHIT OR SOMETHING? COME ON FOLKS QUIT HIDING BEHIND YOUR COMPUTERS AND POST ON THAT THREAD. WELL ITS BEEN ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF SINCE I STARTED THIS THREAD. WE ARE NOW UP TO 35 POSTS AND 1351 VIEWS ON JOHN'S NEW STICKY FORUM. THAT MEANS 175 PEOPLE HAVE LOOKED BUT ONLY 7 MORE POSTED. I GUESS THAT IS A LITTLE BETTER RESPONSE RATE SINCE WE WENT FROM 2% TO 4% POST TO VIEWS. STILL DISAPPOINTING. THOSE NUMBERS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MUCH HIGHER. Why I haven't posted:

1. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to say

2. It doesn't matter. What will matter is MONEY. We need to hire more lobbyists than the enviro wackos. We need to donate millions of dollars to politicians on the condition they fight this. We need to form PAC's to run commercials bringing this into the light. Posting up stories on an internet forum ain't gonna get it done. Hell I don't make much, but i'll donate a grand to the cause. If you can afford a boat you can give a few hundred bucks. If you have a sportfisher, you can give a few thousand. MONEY is where its at. The more money we can throw at this thing the better. MONEY is all that matters......we need to focus on the loss of jobs that will occur, the multi billion dollar fishing industry that will be wrecked, the boat manufacturers, the coastal towns, etc. Politicians don't care about how you feel or what fishing means to you, they care about the bottom line. There is enough MONEY in fishing (after all its an expensive hobby) to buy our way out of this thing, and thats what will have to be done. Bribes, donations, trips on boats. Throw as much MONEY at it as we can.

Every single voice is important. I sound like a stuck record going back to the circle hook thing but... Remember that year reprieve we got? Ok it wasn't a full victory but at least it was something. That was the result of really one voice saying no.
I stood alone in that vegetable patch. Others either not giving a shit or so busy kissing ass so the powers that be wouldn't get meaner... Damn it hurt to fight that fight without a single person at my side. Oh I had people saying "go for it Deep" but at crunch time where were they.
This time the stakes are huge! We can make a difference but never will unless more people get off their collective dead ass and speak up instead of just whining or taking the bung reeming Dirty Jane and the Annointed one are laying on us. EVERY voice makes a difference!
If you're fine with your favorite fishing hole closed or your favorite species put on a do not touch list then continue being a part of the problem. If not, get to your keyboard and start whackin them keys! It doesn't have to be a friggin Pulitzer prize winner. Hell it can be as simple as two letters... N O !

For those who believe their voice doesn’t count….

First off it’s that exact mind-set that has allowed things to fester and develop into what we complain about today. This crap we put up with outa D.C. didn’t just happen over night.

I guess I was fortunate to see the power of my vote first hand. As a young man, during the second election I was old enough to vote in, two friends and myself went to out local poling place to cast our vote. My grandfather had been the local tax assessor in that township as long as I could remember. Several months prior to the election he resigned his position dew to having suffered a mild stroke. When I looked at the ballot I noticed that the position for tax assessor was open and no one was running for that office. I called over to my friends and said to write in the name of a forth friend of ours who at the time was away at college but had always aspired to be a politician. Well, we did and lo-and-behold two weeks later the forth friend was notified of his landslide victory over know-one.
