what the heck is THIS about???
I can't believe some of the stuff I am reading about the US these days. It's really sad to step away from it for awhile and just watch. I read about people getting arrested for sitting in the bow of a bow rider, about not being able to stand at a leaning post....
and now people are getting arrested for cheering their high school graduates????

Somebody is going to have to come up with a new slogan....cause the USA ain't no way, no longer, no how, the "Land of the Free".

Wow - they would have really had a fit when we broke out the beach balls at my H.S. graduation. Absolutely ridiculous.

Stop staring at my Avatar.
Small people in positions of big authority, thinking they have to control situations. Who is worse, the principal for bringing in the police, or the police, who for a lack of anything better to do, arrest cheering spectators and give them a police record.

Well, it struck me particularly because two weeks ago La Gringa and I went up to Colorado for one of our sons' high school graduation. Thankfully, the principal at the Glenwood Springs HS is a much nicer guy. Not only did many of the graduating students hear family and friends come out with a brief cheer when they walked up for their handshake and diploma, but a school official read to the crowd a brief statement written by each graduating senior.
Yeah, it probably added an hour to the proceedings. So what? That's what it was all about. WE cheered when ours was announced. We were proud of him. I think I would have been in a lot more trouble if someone had arrested me for that. There would have been assault charges added.
In the "America" we all grow up thinking we have, and even in the Hollywood version of America, once people saw individuals being led away by the police, the entire auditorium should have started cheering each and every graduating senior. But it doesn't happen that way, does it. No, people sit there like gutless chickens and keep their mouth shut and hope the police don't come for them next. It's friggen sickening.
and as for the other school mentioned in that article, where the students whose families cheered were required to perform 8 hours of community service before getting their diploma....
Sorry, but thats just pure police-state bullshit.
There is something seriously wrong here.

Well good. I just mooned him.
That's almost funny, because yesterday we were talking with a good friend who visits down here from time to time, who is connected in certain circles, who was telling us that the US government is keeping a close eye on the travel and activities of US citizens here.
Seems we are very close to Cuba and could be traveling back and forth buying cigars or something I guess. And of course the whole Cuba threat .....well....need I say more?
Perhaps we should infiltrate their high school graduations and start arresting them for smiling....

Here's one for the graduating classes in Texas!
[/SIZE]Our seniors must pass the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test before they can participate in graduation ceremonies. They are given 5 chances during their Junior and Senior years to do so, with many make-up opportunities offered during the summer months of Junior year as well.
This year in Corpus Christi, we had a parent whose daughter had not passed and was not going to be allowed to participate at graduation, so her irate mother was interviewed on the local news saying, and I quote: "We've already planned the party and sent out invitations to everyone! What are we supposed to do now? It's too late to cancel!!!!"
Seems all she was worried about was the embarrassment of having to call off the graduation party and NOT the fact that her daughter wasn't going to graduate high school!
Now that's sad...she even went before a district court judge demanding that a ruling be made against the school district to change this particular policy...turned out to be a huge waste of the court's time as judge ruled against the irate mother and daughter!

I wish they'd try to arrest me... I'd own em in a blink. Most definitive violation of first amendment rights I can imagined. A good pitbull lawyer could own every player in the line...
A buddy of mine collected half a mil after he was "removed" from a city hall meeting for inferring there was some corruption taking place. He collected even more years later when the players he accused did finally get convicted...

This is what happens when a bunch of leftists control the "education" system. They control the education future generations.
Remember, Bureaucrats are smarter than you so just sit back and relax and let them show you what is right.
