Angler arrested for harassing fishermen
Sgt. Greg Rhodes of the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife announced today that agents recently arrested an angler following a "water rage" incident near Lewes. "I guess with the weather getting hot, tempers are also getting hot," Rhodes said.; Rhodes said the incident occurred back on Aug. 4 when John H*******, 41, of Langhorne, Pa. was captaining his fishing vessel, Top *****, close to another boat on the Delaware Bay.
"They were near the (articifial) Star Fishing reef, which is about three miles north of Lewes and about seven miles southeast of the Mispillion River," Rhodes said.
Rhodes said H******* became upset that the people on the other boat were fishing at the same site.
H******** maneuvered his craft closer to the other boat and intentionally deployed an unbaited fishing pole with a 12-ounce sinker and snagged several of the other people's fishing lines.
Enforcement agents interviewed people from both vessels. Four days later, ********* was arrested and charged with one count of impeding lawful fishing; he pleaded guilty to the charge Aug. 14.
"Capt. ********** pleaded guilty to the charge yesterday and paid a fine of $330," Rhodes said.
