If saltwater, this is a great rig in the surf or off of a pier - and you'd certainly have a shot at a trout or striper - try some cut shrimp, blood worms, heck even squid

For freshwater - try worms - or heck even canned corn - caught many sunfish on corn.
haha sorry for kinda gettin back late..
so anyways, could i use it exactly how it is in the picture, with power bait on the hooks, kind of like gang hooks, for freshwater trout? so the weight carries it too the bottom, and the power-baited hooks float up, so their near the bottom, but not on it.

just goin up to this mountain lake while im camping, not sure if i'll be able to get any worms or anything.

Give it a try - you have nothing to lose, take a can of kernel corn also - you might get lucky.

I used to work on a river in the mountains. A couple of my friends were dedicated flyfishermen - out every day - never saw them catch much, then one day a kid with a cane pole and some corn caught a 10 lb trout - right next to the flyfishermen. I laughed my a$$ off on that one.

Ive seen many a trout pulled out on corn. When it comes to freshies in the stream you can pretty much call what youll catch by your bait. Dont laugh I saw this happen on 23 trout in a row, minnows get ya browns, red worms will catch rainbows an meal worms will catch brookies and Ive seen all three caught on corn. I know it doesnt always work that way but I about shit when my buddy called 23 in a row on the trout stream behind his parents house, #24 was a sucker caught on a minnow. If your going to the mountains lake or stream find some meal worms and red worms keep em cool and theyll last for weeks so you can get them ahead of time. Also if youre fishing a lake for trout get some 1-1/2" to 2" rat-l-traps in silver or silver with a bit of emerald green, theyre deadly on trout in deep water, and dont forget the can of corn kernels they do work. Good Luck
