Admin:
We have a tournament in Port Isabel called T.I.F.T..( Texas International Fishing Tournament) It is held the first weekend of August and is a four day event with two days of fishing both bay and offshore. It is the last tournament on the Texas coast, from here a lot of the boats go south to South America and some go through the canal to the Pacific side so we are well attended. If you want to be here I would be glad to help arrange things for you. http://www.tift.org/

2008 Wal-Mart FLW Striper Series schedule announced
Teams to fish for top awards of $30,000
10.Dec.2007
BENTON, Ky. — FLW Outdoors announced its 2008 Wal-Mart FLW Striper Series schedule today, complete with guaranteed top awards of $30,000 cash in every qualifier – maintaining the trail’s place as the world’s largest, highest-paying and most conservation-minded striper circuit in the nation.
In 2008, the FLW Striper Series will feature four $85,000 one-day qualifying tournaments held on Saturdays. The top award in each tournament includes $10,000 plus $20,000 in Hydra-Sports, Scarab, Seaswirl, Triumph, Wellcraft, Yamaha and Evinrude contingency bonuses. Awards in every tournament extend through 20th place, which pays as much as $900 based on a 100-boat field. The highest finishing team among those teams fishing all four tournaments will also receive free entries for the 2009 season.
In FLW Striper Series competition, each team of two to five anglers is allowed to weigh in two stripers ranging in size from 28 to 34 inches (unless local regulations dictate otherwise). The fish must be kept alive in Striper Tubes or FLW Outdoors KeepAlive boxes developed in cooperation with KeepAlive Systems. KeepAlive boxes are available for purchase or rent during tournaments.
“At FLW Outdoors, we pride ourselves on maintaining annual live-release rates in excess of 98 percent,” said Charlie Evans, FLW Outdoors president and CEO. “We’ve surpassed that goal in the FLW Striper Series since its inception, and we look forward to doing the same in 2008.”
Competition kicks off April 19 in Fortescue, N.J., followed by tournaments May 24 in Atlantic Highlands, N.J.; June 21 in New London, Conn.; and Aug. 9 in West Dennis, Mass. Click on any event in the online schedule to view more details.
Entry fees for 2008 are unchanged at $450 per team, per tournament for early entries and $500 per team for entries taken on-site. Hydra-Sports, Scarab, Seaswirl, Triumph and Wellcraft boat owners will have priority entry into the 2008 season. Entries may be made online at FLWOutdoors.com or by calling (270) 252-1000. Entry dates will be released soon.

Admin, Not sure about everyone else but I'd love to see some behind the scenes coverage of the Westminster Dog ShowBut if not, your coverage of the Cape May Shark Tournament is top notch

In response to possible fishing tourney coverage, I would encourage coverage of the Black Drum World Championship Fishing Tournament. The event is held out of Bay Creek Marina, which is a world class marina with accomodations right at the marina. The tournament is affordable and offers the possiblity to win the tournament with a 15' skiff or a 60' sportsfisher. They are also partnering with the Virginia Marine Resource Commission to ensure conservation.
Also, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce is great about finding free accomodations for travel writers.
I'll cover the Capt. Eddy Hanamen Sailfish Tournament again this year, who knows, I may even win it again...![]()
