Well, basically, today sucked. And it sucked hardddddd.
First thing this mornin, oh..about 6:30ish....throwin the net for mullet..get a 2" severe gash on the side of my ankle. Drive to Emergency room asap, doc looks at it after waitin 1/2 an hour bleeding in the waiting room, and i chit you not, he says "ew, that aint good". so thats a great comforting phrase to hear from the doc. long story short, 6 pokes with a needles into the actual wond, a tetnis shot, and 7 stitches later, im home and just chilling.
I figure i mide as well go drive on the beach, say hi to some freinds....stay on the point for a lil bit, then head back.
get about..oh...80ft from the ramp, so guy yells "HOLY SH%T UR F'IN TRUCK IS ON FIRE DUDE!!"
Thank god my friend Mac (MacPe6) was with me , his is 40, and much wiser. i shut the truck down asap , and we got under it and started bailing sand and water on it as fast as we could. got it out in a matter of minutes. NO IDEA how long it was on fire. We couldnt smell anything at all, N wind, and we were goin like 10mph on the sand.
Torque converter? BLOWN. Tranny fluid pouring out onto my hot exhaust pipes caused the fire. transfer case is shot. tranny is locked. no idea how much fire damage there is, have to get it on the lift and get a better look at it tomorrow.
OH! I forgot, as we were throwing sand on it to stop the fire, i smashed my head on the truck frame, almost knocking myself out.
Now, mind you, im running to the water, through sand, with 7 fresh stitches in my foot. not suppose to even get wet in the first 24hrs, let alone sandy and salty. badage was LONG GONE by time we were done.
Called, and got ahold of 4 friends. Took two z71s, a f-150, and an excursion to get the dead beast of the beach. we couldnt get it it Neutral, and no one had ratchets to disassemble the drive shafts.
4 broke tow straps, one broke tow hook, and a bent bumper later. we finally get it off the sand.
So, whats the awesome tally for today?
7 stitches on my ankle.
massive knot on my head that is throbbing at the moment.
totally blown truck...fire dmg/mass engine probs...
oh yeah, burned my hand too
Wow, what a day. I guess im lucky that i still have my health and no one got hurt.....well...no one got hurt really bad anyway. so that was good.
Foot throbing, head aching, hand burning, but all in all it wasnt a totally wrecked day.
Super lucky I had smeone there that knew exactly what to do and was calm. Thanks again Mac! owe ya one.
and thanks to the guys that pulled me out...
Johny, Jim, Mac, Mac's wife, My dad, and RJ and Len for pulling "SHOVEL THE SAND FROM THE TIRES!" duty.

Jesse,
some times when it rains, it pours.
Go to bed and don't get up til tomorrow.
May be by then your perspective will be more like: "bad stuff happens to everyone, sooner or later. I got a bunch of it out of the way yesterday"
Take care and some ibuprofen.
