If the hoo is rigged like it should be it swims. It looks very natural...however...If it is poorly rigged ...spinning etc...then its unatural. One thing I didnt used to do but do now is we clip the fins. this seemed to help make it a more natural presentation. That was something I learned on SFC

Thanks Chris - that was an interesting read. Couple things came to mind.

    1. Until you can slap a lateral line on Don - We really don't have the whole picture. Fish feel or hear as much or much more then they see.

    2. Agree with Lee here - We also don't know what kind of vision Don has. Does this guy have the vision of Ray Charles or Ray Rosher.

    3. What is the relavence of what a fish is seeing compared to the instinct of a fish. Fish don't think (at least we think they don't think) - they react - so a predatory fish maybe attracted to the very thing that we are trying to avoid because it may initiate a positive reaction.

That being said I would love to see an experiement of lets say the raising of 10,000 tunas to various baits - anything from spreader bars, ballyhoo, ceder plugs and tennis shoes. with leader, cable, rope or dental floss as terminal gear. What happens when that fish approaches the strike zone - does he attack or does he peel off and look for another bait and WHY - that is the question.

Chris - could you please get started on that. You know where to email the results in spreadsheet form please

One thing I will do this year is try to record from below with my new underwater camera. I thought of this question while goose hunting for the first time. Watching a flock fall in and then peel off at the last second before shooting time had me think of how many fish we must raise that we never knew were their. Hopefully I will be a little more informed after this year with the underwater camera.

I have seen da Pino foot stomp on a missed fish--- my guess is he will look like he's line dancing in the pit this year if he's knows how many fish come up for a look see but don't take the bait.
