The way I look at it is another hole in the boat below the water line.....![]()

Looks cool at the dock and may help when chunking at night, but see above...![]()
i have been looking into the "drain plug light" seems like a good idea that will help . i did a search for under water lights and this light system came up. seems better than putting more holes in the bottom... i think it was around $125.00 beats the thousand dollars the others are charging...dave
I'm working on one that will mounts to my trimtabs . I'll post some pics when done . jose
I installed the Abyss lights last spring and they worked for aprox. two weeks before they crapped out.
I also had quite a bit of growth on the lens when I pulled the boat in July.
even if the lights worked at that point I dont think I would have been able to see the light through the growth.

These are being made, seem like most people like them and they are inexspensive to try.
We use the Abyss lights to stay on the cheap side of things and we hav never had a problem with them. I do not like the 600 series they suck and just are not bright enough even with 2. They work just not well in the murky water in the NE.
The color lights work the best in the NE they cut thru the water much better
I am a big fan of the OCEAN LED lights the 1520'S are perfect and you only have to drill less that a 3/8 hole in the transom
For install any lights on the transom make sure you use the Bronze thru hull style
Twin Application 3
Triple Application 2 -4 depending on the boat. If the boat has a Euro Transom it can be done.
Be careful putting anything new in to the water electrical you can create all sorts of electrolysis problems with crap under the water.
FYI - Do not cut the plugs on the ends of the OCEAN LED lights. Also when ordering the lights make sure you add an additional extension cable to get the driver up out of harms way in the console etc.
I do believe that they make trim tabs lights as well.
Nothing brighter!!
Well I'm glad to hear about the abyss lights. I wonder if I did anything wrong when I installed them.
They seemed like a quality product by looking at them. I was suprised when they didn't work after two weeks. I figured that you get what you pay for and I should have known better buying a light that was a quarter of the cost as most.
I really liked the fact that you only had to drill a small hole for the wire.
How long have you been using them?
Possibly I just got a bad pair.
I have a diffrent boat this year and I would love to have underwater lights. I wouldn't be able to do that with the cost of most others.
Think I should give the abyss lights another shot?
We have them on our 36 for 2 years now and not a problem. Again I would kick it up a notch and go above the 600 series for extra brightness. We also have them on quite a few other boat. These are the lights that Contender primarily uses until I made them nuts with the Ocean's. There is a big price point factor 3-400 bucks vs 1100 per light
I would I would also give them a call I met the guy down in Miami and they seemed to be pretty nice and they might work with you...

Great.
Thanks Mary.
Did the guy at the show have a heavy european accent?
I called them with a question once and he seemed annoyed that I was calling.
