    Well Mr. Obama Signed It,

    The don't ask don't tell repeal. No suprise that he did, after all he had a campaign promise to make good. Guess that lead's to, how about the rest of the promise's? I know that no one man can get but so much done in DC, but this sure does smell of an "agenda" to me. Please someone, tell me how this could possibly help the armed forces? Seriously, I could give a rat's behind if you're liberal, conservative, or somewhere in the middle. I get accused of being a right winger, conservative, etc.... truth being known I really don't know what all the different names mean anyhow, so save it.
    This isn't about homo-phobia in my mind, that's your choice (don't expect me to partake though). There have alway's been gay's in every segment of society. How is cramming it down someone else's throat gonna help the cause? Frank

    Well Frank, I'm with you 100% on this issue but I also thought it was a big mistake in allowing women into any combat duty assgnments and it seems to have worked reasonably well (although I can't say for sure as it was still all men in combat duty when I was in). The point is, I don't think it is a good idea condoning homosexuals in the military, but I doubt it will end up being that big of a deal.--- On the other hand, it's the small things that add up over time that can (and will) have a detrimental effect on our military and society.
    I recon what is next is a move to not demand short hair cuts as this violates soldiers' constitutional rights of freedom of expression--- or some other such nonsense.
    The point is, those that do not know know the military culture cannot undertand what makes our military work so well.
    Maybe we will now have 3 combat duty classifications:
    (1) no restrictions;
    (2) heterosexual Men only;
    (3) fags and women may apply with a waiver

    Sorry, to those that disagree but homosexuality is an abnormal behavior, and flaunting this behavior will affect those who lives depend on normal thoughts and rational decisions. In short, I don't think there should be any special "rights" associated with psycological abnormalities in the military. IMO, Don't Ask/ Don't Tell works and works well.

    See, Ive gotten Jaded.......

    I agree with you frank, BUT........I also know anyone only has so many pitches in his major league arm. You need to pick the games that matter, that will win a championship. Does that make sense? Ill explain it another way........when the tide is flooding, how do you stop it? I say, a smart guy, just moves his home to higher ground. Is that a give up? I have friends that are gay, I dont get it, I also dont hate them or want to see them persecuted, however I dont want to move either. If obama is the president, the answer was cast in stone a long time ago. How am I going to stop that?
    When I watch the marines storm Normandy Beach in WW11 Im sure some of those brave boys were.............Not happy,...... some were.

    This is only a big deal to the homophobes and the media. Gays have always served in the military. I served with several gay soldiers, mostly lesbian and it was no big deal. Some were outstanding at their job. To most of the military it's no big deal. The media is blowing this way out of proportion. Sorry to bust ya'lls bubble.

    Nothing worng with Lesbians. After all, they like the same thing I like. But in the context of the gay discussion did you have to say the media is blowing this ...?

    Tunanut,

    That's exactly my point! There have been gay folk's in the military forever. The reason it has worked is they haven't been an "in your face" group. Now literally where does it stop? When I was "in", we used to have the Friday Night "titty flop's" at the EM Club. Not sayin it was right but I've been there, was there for the nickle draft's too! How long or where will the line be drawn? Will the next step be Gay EM/Officer's Clubs on base? Look I wasn't all that keen on the communal shower and head thing either, but I got over it. I didn't gawk if they didn't.
    My question is simply this, how did this help the miliatry as portrayed? Look I was raised around couple lesbian women. I loved them then and still do to this day. They are as much or more apart of my family than most flesh and blood. They had gay guy friend's too. Never ever once did anyone ever get in the wrong way with me, if one had of tried my friend's would have castrated them before I could have. The point is I/we all new what their preference was, they never once tried to cram it down my throat. I respected them then and now for not doing so. I personally don't go along with the idea, I think it's morally wrong. So is stealing.
    The thing that those in DC don't get when they're pushing their agenda's or fulfilling campain promise's, it can be a hostile place out there. No one has to "see" you fall overboard, or "see" where that stray round came from. There are too many way's to get rid of "threat's" (imagined or real) in that world.
    Glenn, I still don't like women in combat. I had several that we're in my boat crew's, they were OK. But none were up for the tough crap (mental or physical). I know with that statement I could potentially make a load of folk's mad with me. But it's the truth as I saw it. Don't get me wrong most of the men you would have thought were "tough guy's" , ended up being *****'s (sorry for the language, but I don't know how to make my point other than with that term). So go figure. The military is about who doesn't "washout", those that don't are needed. All other's need not apply! Frank

    my wife, my kids, my practice.

    New military definitions?????

    I guess the old addage of "cocked and loaded" has new meaning in the military now?

    Maybe "tuna caserole" in the mess hall will carry a different and colorful new message?

    I don't know about all this "CHANGE" but I think open homosexuality in our military will further fuel the Muslims to want to kill our personnel. How about we issue pink BDU's to gays and let's go full boar "OPEN"? And let the enemy decide which camo suit to shoot at?

    Whether I agree with homosexuality or not I think anyone who wants to serve in our military, without being a distraction, should be appreciated. It could be a distraction if the gay men saunter and sway gingerly instead of simply marching with intensity.

    Frank,
    You know sexual harrassment isn't tollerated in the military. I think that many of the concerns will be dealt with in typical military fashion. Kinda like the gay football players, they learn what behaviors are tolerated on the team and don't cross the line. There will be no mansword fights in the showers. The biggest problem is people still believing that homosexuality is a choice or lifestyle. It's incoded in their dna, they're gay from day one. The way God made them. kinda like calling people immoral for being left handed. A little story about someone I know personally. A man of men guy, hunter-fisher extrodinare had what appeared to be a normal family. When one of his sons was 13, he told his dad that he though he was gay. Dad, appalled got the kid to shrinks, and therapy, and church to try to fix him. Dad baggered the kid relentlessly for 5 years to get fixed. An arguement began one day when he was 18 and dad was determined to get the gay out of his son even if had to beat it out of him. We'll the kid relented and told his dad that he wouldn't be gay tomorrow, went to the gun cabinet, grabbed his dad's 12 gauge, racked one, put the barrel to his chest and squeezed right in front of his dad.
    True story, hope it doesn't happen to any of you.
