HI:
I like plastic evrywhere I go.
It's awful hard to get frozen ballys on board a plane going to RORATONGA or Midway , or TAHITI , or LONDON.
I like plastics because, I like to try and FOOL them critters into thinking that whats up there is really meat.
I like plastic 'cause I'm basic and a bit lazy. I can't see fixin 30 ballys the night before I go out on the water. I'm to tired from doing other things to my boat or customers to do that.
I like plastic, 'cause I can fine tune WHERE in the spread I want that bad boys to be in.
If I want tha plastic to run 6 inches or 12 inches from where it's now at, I can easily do that.
If I want to run at 9 knots all day long, my palstics will do that. Why do I do that? I can cover more water.
I can put up a better boat wash.
I can MAKE THOSE FISH make split second decision to EAT at higher speeds
I can hide ANY imperfection that I may have made on rigging.
I can change leader length at a moments notice. Longer or shorter as the conditions change.
Putting a plastic on the back, front, and MOST IMPORTANTLTY , IN THE MIDDLE OF MY STANDING WAKE WAVE is easyer with plastics.
Plastics can make a larger or smaller lure presentation, simply by changing lure size.
NOw that I've said all that, I'll beat my breast and tell you all again:
I'm an Ex commercial guy.
I was braught up on the water by my pop and uncles and GREAT guys who took me under their wing and taught me things.
From Party boat captains to dragger capns to longliners who instilled my love for the oceans , all said one thing:
Your out there to earn a living. Go do it.
What I'm tryin to sayis that I still have the commercial attitude about fishing:
1). Use whatever you can to catch that fish.
2.) Do it as econimcally as you can.
When it comes to Marlin fishing, I rarley did it. Why? I won't sell a game fish.
When my customer wanted to do it, I did. If the boat owner wanted to do it, I did.
I have been lucky enough to haul enough Marlin over the transome or have pics taken at the transome to suite me.
I'll do it for fun, but for me ,
When I see a boil as big a Volkswagen at one of my plastics.
When that BIGEYE comes charging acrossthe seas surface.
When that YFT comes 5 feet out of the water to land on my plastics.
When that BFT comes across thw ater pushind a bow awake like a TORPEDO, my knees still shake, mouth drops open, heart pumps like crazy,
temp. skyrockets, and I yell like crazy!
To the guys who pull meat........... GOD BLESS YOU.
To the guys who pull meat........... HAVE FUN.
To the guys who pull meat........... YOU ARE PROFESSIONALS.
I do admit to pulling meat when all else failed. Have I caught fish on meat? HELL YES. Will I pull meat if I have to, to catch fish? HELL YES.
Fishing is still fishing.
Now lets all go fishing.

.......ONE OF WHICH WAS AN EARLY CARRER GIG ON THE 41' VIKING THE "JUNEBUG" WHICH I MATED ON A TOTAL OF 109 FULL
Well we might have met before I remember the JUNEBUG... But I dont remember where I was when I saw the boat... Cozumel or Ft. Lauderdale maybe. I spent alot of time in both of those places in the 80's
Always been a big natural fan. Enjoy the challenge of rigging a bait up so that it swims better than it did when its heart was thumping. I am not afraid to throw a piece of hardware over board, but nothing like rigging up a naked and seeing the action work for you. Yea its messy, yea it stinks, but I love it!!
Hi, Marty: I have been lurking here for only a few days (and saw many or your videos last night). I have been lurking for a long while on The Hull Truth and used to see you posting there. I'm glad I found you here because I always enjoy reading your posts, hearing of your adventures. I'd like to come to Morehead City in the late summer, early fall to go fishing (I guess I should book something on Extreme Measures?). I currently live in Dallas, Texas, but am contemplating a move to Morehead (I'm originally from Charlotte) in the late fall, early winter. I'd really like to come for a trip first, get the lay of the land, and hopefully go out fishing with you. Any chance of that?
This is my first post. I'm new to the forum, and have never done any trolling. I have done some bottom fishing out of Wilmington (when I was a kid) but I'd very much like to start getting into the sport. Any kind of reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, really enjoy the posts and the videos.
SORRY DUDE.........I MISSED SEEING YOUR POST ON THIS THREAD......FORGIVE ME FOR BEING TARDY
WE WOULD LOVE FOR THE CHANCE TO PUT YOU IN THE MEAT! AND IF YOU WISH TO CHECK OUT THE MOREHEAD AREA..........I'LL TRY TO HELP OUT ANY WAY I CAN.....
GLAD YOU FOUND YOUR WAY TO "MY WORLD".................IT'S VERY CALM HERE........LITE WIND AND SEAS.......NO BULLSHIP
YOU WILL FIND ALL HERE ARE HELPFUL SO JOIN IN ION THE ACTION....MY WORLD IS YOUR WORLD
LATER, MARTY

I'd really appreciate any pointers you might give me on the area. And by then I'd be more ready to book a date or two on Extreme Measures with some certainty. I would probably make it a 5-6 day trip, so I could look around at real estate and if the day I hope to go fishing has bad weather... I'll still have a few more days to hope for better conditions. I'll be around on the boards and I'll shoot you a PM when I get closer to knowing the plan.
Thanks for your reply, Mike.
