i live close to d.c. so the wife and i are looking to get the hell out of town during the inaugeration.we were thinking something like hatteras but we werent sure. it would be nice to stay somewhere with some history with things to see. it would be even better if i could sneak in a charter one of the days. anyone have any suggestions. thanks.
MHC,come on down and get a charter for a giant bluefin. After that you could go to the maritime museum, core banks waterfowl museum, downtown Beaufort, which has alot of history,Hell we have it all. What more do you need, and on the way back you could drive back up Hwy.12 catch a few more lighthouses and even take a couple nice ferry rides.
The coastal rockfish bite in January and February is the best in the world. You could eel at night at the High Rise and release citation fish. Plenty of history around here too: Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, plantations, battlefields, etc.
i like the mhc city idea.. you could also start in nags head area and spend the day and night there..
good food and you can drive through wanchese and drool over all the boat builders!! after your woody goes down.. you can make your way down 12 and into hatteras and such!!
and like stated above see a lot of good lighthouses and some historical places along the way!!
Manteo(Nags Head, NC) Go book yourself a charter at Pirates Cove Marina, and go out and catch yourself some bluefin tuna offshore or one of the inshore charters and catch a 40 lb. rockfish...Then go and check out the wright memorial monument or go and see the history at Manteo Waterfront. Also you could travel down to Wanchese and check out all the netting and shrimp boats, as well as all those custom boatbuilders. Well whatever you do enjoy!
