Well this just scrambles my eggs... Got my finger on the trigger to buy a plane ticket saturday and go sunday.

I look at the jersey coast forcast for Sunday...10-15 from the northwest and 2-4' on the starboard stern.... I'm good with that. Then I look on the other side of the bay down to OC in the very next coastal section forecast and they're calling 15 from the south with 5 foot on the bow.

SUN
NW WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 2 TO 4 FT.

SUN
S WINDS 10 TO 15 KT...BECOMING 15 KT IN THE EVENING...THEN BECOMING NW AFTER MIDNIGHT. SEAS BUILDING TO 4 TO 5 FT

same problem going North from Annapolis to MA ,It is not that long of a trip but do not want to get caught on a new vessel with no electronics in the dark or fog ,I estimated 21 hours of steaming ,have to run up to the C&D and out the Deleware

Got a quickie I can pull off on Friday R/T with 2 vessels

Northwest off Jersey is an offshore breeze. You gotta play out away from the beach from Atlantic City to about Barnegat but not so far out that its an issue...
I guess that far up the bay at Annapolis the canal is the way to go...

I hear that and to add I will run close most of the way with no electronics other than a handheld vhf ,Cell and a gps
I have to bring all my own saftey gear and purchase a flare kit in MD, bringing them on the plane would be a no no

If you worry about these "official forecasts" you'll never get down south with the amount of times they're off.

Most recent update just brought both of them to shit city for Sunday but both look good now for Monday...

I understand not trusting them makes all the sense in the world but they have been wrong consistently in recent weeks by under guessing what its been in actuality... Every time I look at a half way doable day. When it gets there the red letters pop up for cautions, advisories or gale warnings... The 10-15 predictions have been 20-25 come game time almost every time...
None of the forecasts have been adjusted downward. Always worse worse worse... Hell though its only been a week.
At this point I'm looking for just one day window with Northwest or North in it... I'll worry about day two when the time comes... Its only about 100 miles from OC to the bay so just a four hour window would be enough there...

Vikings run Great!

Deep Sea, I owned a 99 Viking 43' convertible with 680 mans. We cruised 28 - 30 knots burning maybe 50 gal/hr. She had a 580 gal. tank. Longest run on one tank was Hatteras outside to Charleston. Sucking fumes getting to fuel dock. I ran that boat from Newport to Atlantic City, AC to Norfolk (love Waterside & Hooters), Norfolk to Morehead City, MC to Charlestown, Charlestown to St Augustine, then to Stuart. It's 200 nm on the button from Absecon to Norfolk. Have been into Ocean City as well as Cape May.
The Viking runs good in the trough, takes a head sea slower, but wet, and generally is a solid boat. Like someone else said, don't go by the weather reports, stick your nose out! We once went in 12' to 15' down the coast of FL from St Augustine to Ponce. Surfing 15 knots to 30. I don't reccommend that, but it is a good hull. I am on the ICW before the Figure 8 Island Bridge outside Wrightsville Beach. When you see the 34 yellowfin with yellow canvas (engines & all) that's me. Sand colored house next to the Mermaid statue. Let me know if ya go inside! I can give ya a free slip!

In the express she rides real good. Like I said stays glued but by a long shot she's wetter than the convertible....Ours are 625 detroits same type cruise but fuel is over the top bad... Then again viking lost the paperwork on what she carries for fuel... I could do AC / Norfolk and did Morehead/ Charleston comming up but those extra 70 or so from AC to where our slip is puts us short on the range...

Last year we had 2-4 forecasts and had lots of 6-8 to keep us company instead with 10+ from Daytona to PBI. She can do it but I don't want to push it...
