Too bad Longfisher is focused on putting down his own Country. If one is looking for bad people rather than focusing on USA, how about J. Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao Tse-Tsung, Idi Amin & others? Not to mention some of the muslin regimes in the present day world.

We are not perfect but trust me (haven't traveled the world but I've been many places on the globe, including China) given a choice of all places on this planet, most would pick the USA as the place with the most opportunity & the fairest outcome of government.

My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning, and when I confront him, he denies everything. What's worse, everyone knows he cheats on me. It is so humiliating. Also, since he lost his job years ago he hasn't even looked for a new one. All he does is buy big cigars and cruise around and shoot the bull with his pals, while I have to work to pay the bills. OK, I get it now. Thanks for explaining it to me. It's sort of like if someone breaks into your house and rapes and murders your wife but, knowing that you smoke and prefer Camels and like magazines that come in the mail in a plastic bag with a black cover, he leaves you an unopened carton and takes out a Playboy subscription in your name, then all should be fine and dandy.

Face it, there are monsters among Americans and many of them work in and, in many cases, lead the Government. Particularly in foreign policy (but also in trade relations) there's is an attitude of "anything goes" when it comes to dealing with other nations and their people. And, anything includes some of the most mostrously barbaric behavior and deeds imaginable; the same sort of behavior that we routinely condemn in others.

We have our monsters and they have theirs. The only difference is the residential Zip Code in which the monster resides. America is morally equivalent to those we condemn.

I think I read here on Mix It Up of a fable where a sage was advising a younger man that within each of us exists constantly waring twin wolves; one good the other evil. The young man asks of the sage, "How to you know which one wins." The sage says, "It depends only on which one you feed."

Domestically, at least for now, we tend to feed the good wolf. Although I think that time is passing. But without a single doubt in foreign policy we force-feed the evil wolf.

So, no one should be surprised when payment to the piper is due in the form of terrorism and military defeat. Our vile deeds named that price. And, the citizens who sit lightly back and observe these things but don't take exception to them and, instead, rationalize them away are themselves deeply responsible for the continuation of those acts.

Oh, I don't advise anyone to go to Guatemala any time soon. It sounds as if the revelations of American Hitlerian experimentation on Guatemalans has not exactly endeared us to them. They've even forgotten all the "foreign aid" (translation, military hardware) we gave them...the ingrates.
