Here are a couple of shots of a pair of eagles that we spotted last year. They hung around for a couple of months but never built a nest. I read up on these birds recently. Seems the mate for life. I wonder if they were scouting out a nesting area. They said the birds tend to return to the same spot year after year.

Another interesting tidbit of information that I learned was that 40% of Bald Eagles to not survive their first flight attempt

The site also said that a bald eagle's nest is usually about 5 ft in diameter and continues to grow every year. Some can reach 9 ft in diameter and weigh 2 tons. I wouldn't want to be walking under that tree on a windy day!
