Hello all, I just found this site and have been reading the post for almost an hour. Just another old guy who loves fishing and buildiing rods. I started in 1980 after seeing a man building a rod at a tackle shop show. Then I found Clemens tackle and a few others and it has been hooked, landed and canned ever since. We are in the middle of being left on the shore staring at frozen lakes and not much action. I found a good deal on a Fin-nor Ahab #16 reel and just ordered the parts to build my first jig rod. I went with a Calstar 196-7, with Si-c guides. The lake near by is the Blue Mesa Lake in western Colorado, it is about 30 miles long and the lake record for lake trout is 62 lbs. at the present time. Hope, hope... I am building a 8.5 ft. fly rod now with a braided real seat with bureled rosewood insert. Above the grip I am inlaying rattlesnake hide. I'll take a 10-shutup and go back to reading, again thanks a lot....Lynn
