    Wait A Minute!,

I'll admit that I don't know much about polotics and that I can be pretty slow on the take. But wasn't there a buget "surplus" when Clinton was President. Now I'm not a huge fan of Mr Clinton, but all I seem to be hearing is that the Tea Party and Republicans have the solid fiscal answer's. If there was in fact a surplus with a Democrat in Office, then why the huge split between the party's as we see now?????? If something is working (or has proved itself to work), why must it be screwed with??????

This is just one reason I don't even like the idea of "politic's". Just get it done already!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure I'm missing something here, please enlighten me. Frank

over a decade of war will put a dent in the pocket book, no matter which party is in office.

Clinton seems to get the credit however Newt held the purse strings. Newt started the contract with America and had control of the house.

That being said the republicans over spent during the Bush years and they paid the price. I agree with Captnemo as well however the current mentality of spending more to make things better makes no sense, especially when taxing those that create the jobs.

my wife, my kids, my practice.

Frank, let me sum it up for ya

When your bank account is empty b/c you overspent, then blame it on the stores where you spent it, tell your neighbors and employees they need to give you money b/c you deserve it, then borrow on your credit cards, go have your teeth worked on and stiff the dentist, then go file bankrupcy. After all it isn't your responsibility to live within your means. This is our gov't in a nut sack!

Nothing better than a war to drain a surplus. I was skeptical when we invaded Iraq but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I think now it's pretty clear they screwed that pooch. We never should have done it.

Bonehead, I see you're online moniker doesn't adequately reflect the entirety of your thinking.

We are in utter agreement on, "We never should have done it." But perhaps the reasons you and I might feel that way would diverge.

I don't think so. It wasn't just wrong on an economic level or even on many levels, but rather it was wrong on ALL levels. It's never a mistake to defend your country when it's under attack, but that's not what we accomplished. We ended up exposing America, not defending her.

    Overly Gratuitious Generalizations and Assumptions

I see I've been guilty of both towards you, Mr. Bonehead.
