NEW YORK - Shares of Vonage Holdings Corp., the Internet telephone pioneer, dropped sharply in their trading debut Wednesday, dismaying customers who had been given a chance to participate in the initial public offering.
The shares closed at $14.85 on the New York Stock Exchange, down 12.6 percent from the offering price of $17 set late Tuesday.

Dead Eye
you mean there isn't another video???? product review???? I went all the way downstairs, put on the hardhat, goggles, shoulder pads and was all prepared for another video. man....I'm dissapointed
I think vonage is just ahead of itself of what it is offering. Afterall Comcast, Earthlink are now offering similiar services. Biggest difference is they can offer a quality of service by reserving bandwidth for their phone service.
Vonage has to rely on the ISP's efficientcy. In many cases, they are not best. I know for a fact that Comcast's routing tables in my area absolutely suck. It is sad when you call either Vonage or your ISP and the advance help desk people know far less than you.
The system is working quite well at the carrier level. Everyone remembers the 10-10 long distance calling. Well that was the start of carrier based packet switching for the public switch telephone network.
Give it time, and Vonage like services will be as good as your local phone provider.
Wow a techie disussion on a fishing site. I come hear to get away from that crap. But since we are airing it out I will give you my 2 cents. Vonage will never work well becuase they cannot offer QoS through the core router. Hell they can't even offer QoS thru the edge router because none of it belongs to them. It basically comes down to you get what you pay for. If your business relies on telecom then don't go cheap on telecom. Hell that would be like going offshore with Okumas.....oops - did I just say that
