Got a canon video cam and need suggestions on editing software. I know some of you on here post some awesome videos--whats your fav software to edit? Using a windows XP, have decent computer skills.

I use Adobe Premiere. It's got just about every bell and whistle one could think of. But, it aint cheap. I'll use Window's Movie Maker for quick and simple things. It's free. Also, download a copy of Window's Media Encoder. It's got some of the latest codecs. It's handy to have around.

I got me a "real" digital video cam from my wife for xmas. I was using a digital pocket cam last summer. I'm still pretty impressed with that little cam.

Does the new cam have an image stabilizer?

You can try "windows movie maker" it should already be on your system. Its not as good as some of the other programs but it works fine for just making personal videos. And if you aren't going to be using it all the time.
If you want to start to do things a little more professional then I would look into the other programs that were mentioned.
