Veterans Honor Flight
Hey Ya'all
Theirs a program for WW2 vets called Honor Flight, what it does is bring WW2 Vets to DC to see the memorials placed in there honor and tour related DC museums and such. I have provided the link, Here's what i want to do...I want to go as a Guardian, the cost is $500.00..and being the construction Industry is in the crapper i cant afford it and not feel guilty about spending the money. What i'm asking for..sponsors, people willing to donate whatever you can to help me get to DC. I am setting up a site showing progress along with sponsors names (if they wish) and after the trip i will post pics of the journey, I am doing this to pay tribute to my father who served in The Armed Guard, had his ship sunk under him and swam, helping his buddy,2 miles to shore. He never talked about the war,but i know he would be proud of anyone helping his fellow soldiers.
If anyone feels like making a donation, please include name and address..in case i don't make my goal and have to return money. Thank You. Steve Gould.

All Right Guy's,
Now's your chance to "put up" or "shut up". It ain't gotta be alot, after all it takes drop's to fill a bucket. This is about "Marine", it's about the guy's that have allowed us all to still speak English! Think about it. Frank

Marine,
Just looked at your "blog" (guess it is one more thing I can scratch off my "to do list", I'm not sure I know what a blog is either). You're not going to be allowed to get this trip started on a "negative". Scratch that "hopefully" out of your first sentence, just pack your rag's! Tell us when the trip is planned on taking place, how long, how many vet's you will be with (or is this a one one one trip)? Will the $500.00 cover your "expenses" (room, chow, transportation, taking that VET out for a well deserved steak dinner, etc.....?
I would say there are quite afew of us on here (vet's and those that didn't serve) that would like to do more for these folk's (VETs past and present). I sadly remember when VETs were seen as vermin but, now am happy to see "public opinion" coming around to where it should have been all along. I will also say that no one know's what "service" mean's like a VET. I think what you are planning on doing is a good start for other's of us to consider what we can do also. Thank's for your Service and for putting this out here for the rest of us.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Dozens of Grand Strand Veterans received the trip of a lifetime this week on an honor flight to Washington, DC.
The first-ever Myrtle Beach Honor Flight took 85 veterans to Washington Wednesday to see the memorials built in their honor - and honor was the very thing that followed them every step of the way.
As soon as the veterans arrived in Washington, they received a big welcome to the nation's capital with a welcome ceremony at the airport.
The vets then loaded up in buses and headed straight for the World War II Memorial.
Of the 16 million who served in that war, it's estimated that 1,000 die every day and many never get to see the memorial.
However, on this day, these Grand Strand vets got their chance to visit, to take pictures, and to reflect.
"A lot of memories," said veteran William T. Harter. "Like a lot of them fellows we lost over there. We lost a good many of them over there when I was over there."
"When I got here, I got tears in my eyes," said veteran Frank Turchiano. "It's wonderful."
But this stop was just the first on a whirlwind tour of Washington, DC to honor these veterans
From the Korean Memorial to the Iwo Jima Memorial, many of these vets say they never would have been able to make the trip without the Honor Flight program.
"When you're 85, 86 years old, you're limited to the places you can go," said veteran Leo Nowicki. "This is a life's dream."
Margaret Davin was one of three women veterans on the trip.
"It's mind boggling," she said. "It's a very emotional time. I don't think I've ever been so happy"
All around Washington, these veterans say they felt an overwhelming sense of pride in their service.
"I've never shaken hands with so many people," said veteran Chuck Swanger. "I've never had anybody thank me for what I've done before."
At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the veterans say they felt a sense of sacrifice.
Then it was time to return home, after a long day in DC, but just when they thought the trip they had looked forward to for so long had come to a close, back in Myrtle Beach, the veterans received a hero's homecoming.
It was a big welcome home, and an even bigger ‘thank you,' to these 85 members of the Greatest Generation.
Hell..not much one can add to that.....
