I was watching the Tonight show last night and Jay Leno had Christine O'Donnell on the show. As I was watching the show I could not help to notice the over sized American Flag Pin she was wearing as was Jay Leno.

Please do not take this the wrong way but I feel as though these American Flag pins that politicians, celebrities and now talk show hosts are wearing, have lost there true meaning. I feel it has become so politically correct to wear the pendant just because everyone else is doing so, that the pride and meaning behind out flag is somewhat lost. I feel these pins have become more of a prop and an accessory.

The American flag to me is the greatest symbol of the pride and honor I have for our country and respect for all who those who have served and died protecting our freedoms and rights. To see this symbol become a mere fashion accessory, kind of irks me. Am I taking this too literary?

Both my grandfathers fought in WWII, my dad served during Vietnam, and my mentor was a decorated Korean War hero, all are no longer with us. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to these guys who fought for the freedoms we have today and pray for all who serve today that they may come home safe and soon.

God Bless America and all who have served and are currently serve this great country.
