Don't think it'll work, but, it's truthful as all getout.
The only thing they left out of their "remembrances" was that the Republicans were in power during the worst terrorist attack on our country ever.
I don't think it'll work because people also remember when Obama said he'd support (but didn't) the:
1) Return of the rule of law and applying the law to everyone equally (he didn't prosecute Bush / Cheney).
2) The invasions of privacy of the security state (he voted to provide immunity to the telecoms)
3) The Public Option (he killed it in the womb to make a deal with the hospitals and big pharma).
4) The end of "too-big-to-fail" (the financial reform bill has allowed the banksters to actually grow larger and more profitable than ever before)
5) The consumer protection agency headed by Elizabeth Warren (he was too chicken to submit her name for confirmation of the post and, instead, made her some sort of advisor / creator of the agency)
6) The end of our foreign war in Iraq (he's leaving 50,000 troops in Iraq in perpetuity).
7) The closure of Guantanamo (it remains open today).
8) The trial of terrorists in U.S. Federal Courts (they remain in Guantanamo today, mostly untried or tried only in military kangaroo courts called commissions).
9) The elimination of torture and abuse (the massive detention center in Baghram AFB in Afghanistan is closed to the Red Cross and is rumored to be a pit of torture, rape, abuse and murder by the CIA).
10) The Novel Peace Prize (his acceptance speech was a defense of war and he almost immediately afterwards escalated the war in Afghanistan by sening in 30,000 more troops).
Etc, etc, etc.
Zummie, in general, you and I agree on a lot of things. But can you please reconcile your continued support of Obama in light of his listed failures above. When I went to the polls, I couldn't.
To
1) paraphrase Steven Higgs recent article on this point when he said that Obama didn't live up to his billing and it ain't going to sell well and
2) the prevalent policy in the DOD of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"
Zummie the undeniable fact that Obama didn't act as he said he would made it a hard sell to support his party this election...or...
Didn't Act Don't Sell.
