    Question Vera Cruz Bound

Hi folks, I just found this forum, and figured the give and take might enhance the fishing action. I'm planning on a late Spring trip down to Vera Cruz, Mexico, but the traditional ways of finding information relative to their fishing aren't working. Does anyone know anything about marinas in the Vera Cruz area where I can park my 53-foot sportfisherman, and live aboard for two or three months?

Looking at the seafloor maps, it shows that then Continental Shelf drop-off is barely beyond the surf. Have those depths been tested for a deep-drop fishery for swordfish or tilefish, etc? Is Vera Cruz just too far south for this?

    Any infor would be appreciated.

I go down there every year and the fishing has always been very good especially the yellowfin bite. Give Adrian a call he owns the only tackle store in town and he will make all the arrangements for you 011-229-200-0880 or e-mail him elpescador1@ver.megared.net.mx Trust me this guy is one of the best, has all the info on where to go and he will treat you right. Here are a few of the pictures from there

    Good luck and great fishing!

    Vera Cruz fishing

Thanks for the come-backs about Vera Cruz. Those yellowfins had to makefor a busy day!

I'll follow up on the suggestions, and post something when its all over. I plan on departing for the first trip around the end of March.

I'll be checking out the Tampico and Taxpan areas of the way down. Is there anything particular in those locales I should look forward to?

    Thanks again.

Yes the yellowfin bite can be pretty awesome. There are a number of exploratory oil rigs as close as 40 miles offshore and from what I understand they are moving one closer in the next couple weeks. As far as Tampico and Taxpan Adrian will be able to fill you in on where to go in those areas.

The amenities at some of the dockage areas can be a little sparse so I would highly recommend that you give Adrian a call for guidance. He is a very good friend and I'm sure he will go above and beyond to help you with whatever you need. Here are a few pictures Veracruz yacht club so you see it would be good to have someone that knows what going on. Good luck and great fishing!

Thanks for your help, Jack. I just got an e-mail off to Adrian, and will give him a call soon. I plan on heading that way for a short trip around April 1, with the possibility of returning for the summer.
