Venice Louisiana Fishing in January

I will be going to Venice the first week of January hoping to get an offshore charter. I have heard this is a great time for fishing the lumps there. Can someone give me an idea what to expect. Also, any recommendations on a good crew and Captain? Currently I have only myself, maybe one more if I can work out a deal with another SFC member who will also be in the area that week. Any advice will definitely be appreciated.
