Crab mustard is good
The value of the sport.
Monday comes around, you sometimes dread going to the office, but you already might have been feeling this way Sunday night. You sit there and thumb thru a fishing magazine and long for the adventure of being on the water again. Sometimes you ponder for minutes, sometimes hours as you finally drift back into the reality of what pays your bills and defines your economic abilities to provide the life you desire. you get a call from your fishing buddy midday and he gives you a report of how he did yesterday and saturday as well. you both shoot the bull, thinking about going this weekend but waiting to see what the weather gods have in store. you end the day, go home, do your usual evening routines which include an SFC website visitation of course, dinner, a shower and then a little tv and off to sleep. visions of a big blue crashing your baits, tuna galore, multiple hookups on that school of dorado that were like a stampede jumping halfway out of the water to pummel your baits. then the crescendo tone of that damn alarm clock snaps you back into reality just as the slob hoo hammers the right flatline.
Tuesday and Wednesday come and go with nothing more than a dose of stress and issues at the office and sometimes at the home. Man is that day on the water gonna come or what? Your only escape for the monotony has been SFC once again. the website is a vacation from reality for us all, another way to find that little section of time where we wash it all away.
Thursday arrives and the weather looks good for the weekend plans are still tentative. you start calling for reports from your buddies in the morehead area, gathering intel we will call it.
Friday comes and goes, you have already packed and rechecked the weather and are driving down. you get there, do your boat checks and bait prep and go to sleep.
Saturday greets you with a little wisp of that salt air that stirs you up and gets you ready for the ride.
Now i will let you decide how the ending/results of the adventure go, be my guest. I have to say that one of the things i treasure most about what we do is enjoying the feeling of pulling away from that slip and leaving it all on land. gone are the worries of everyday life, gone are the bills of the month, gone are the problems we face everyday as a society and feel the pressures of. when that sun peeks it's head up over the horizon it is already a good day for me, my day has brought me fulfillment and a way to relax. granted we all get tuned up to go kill some fish, but it is nice to stop and smell the roses also. i chose to lose my problems in the wake of the boat within a mile or so out of the inlet and that really clears my mind. there is no better feeling that i can imagine than sharing these times of enjoyment with good friends and family on the water. But remember one thing as you depart from that dock. remember those that have no food, clothes, shelter, or medicine to help them heal. there are many of those that would kill to be in our shoes and we should realize that more than we should, i for one am guilty of this. it is so easy to get caught up in our planning and processes that we sometimes forget those who are less fortunate. let's continue to keep them in our prayers and do what we can.
thanks for letting me step on the soapbox and express my thoughts.
