    Used Truck Advice

Im looking at getting another truck. I have a 1998 Chevy 2500
with some miles on it. Ive been looking at a couple newer Chevy's a '05 and a '06 both 2500 class trucks. I do tow a 5 ton trailer with a tractor that weights a little over 7000 pounds. I also looked at the Chevy diesel which was nice but more money. Any one have any input, good or bad about these trucks?

    Did you know....

90% of ALL Chevy trucks are still on the road!!! 10% actually make it home! (that was a joke do not take it the wrong way and friends do not let friends buy dodge!)

I've had chevy's for a while and they last. They usually got about 2 mpg better than fords that I know.
Right now I have an 08 chevrolet diesel and I love it!!! It will pull anything you want to.

Ive had all 3 trucks. Now I have a toyota tacoma but thats another story!!!This is just my opinion so I dont want everyone screaming thats this is bullshit but like I said I have had all 3.First I would never ever buy another Dodge. It sucked!!!!!It sucked on gas, ride, performance"always breaking down" and just the little things that shoulnt go wrong did!!!All these trucks Ive had Ive bought brand new off the lot!!I had problems with the dodge right away!!Chevy makes the best looking and rideing truck out there in my opinion. My 2500 looked good rode like a caddy and didnt have to many problems.I would say the best one I had was my Ford!!!It rode like a tank I mean you go over a manhole cover and you thought you were in a baha 500.Ride was very stiff and truck bounced alot.I plowed with all three and can safely say that the Ford outlast them all.Chevy was pretty close but if I was buying a truck to be a TRUCK I would buy a FORD.Now if I was going to buy some thing to just tow with I would probably lean to chevy because of the ride!!I also would NOT put a diessal in any of them.I like gas better you will get about 12 to 14 around town with bothChevy and Ford.Just my opinion!!!!!!!

Looking hard at the new/lightly used Chevy diesel w/ Allison trany, everyone seems to have something good to say about it, I think the Dodge is better looking though, haven't ruled it out.

My 08 duramax with the 6 speed allison tows my boat well. You really don't know the boat is behind you.........really!!
I have had it since Jan. and am extremely happy with it. Fuel mileage empty while on cruise control at 55 is 24 mpg. Now bump it up to 65-70 and your down to 21-22.

    Towing, I get between 13 and 15. I'm towing around 8,000 lbs.

Hmmm, wondered why I didn't have friends LOL.

Seriously, someone else made the comment, by the time the end of the year or thereafter arrives, you may be able to get a darned good price on a new whatever.

I have had 3 dodge trucks.
1st was a 2500 99 short bed 4x4 with the 360 gasser. Fuel hog but plenty of grunt. The 4:11 did not help the gas mileage. It was an auto with the snow plow kit. Great truck !!!! Bad economy 12 to 13 mpg was it

2nd was a 2500 03 club cab long bed 4x4 with the hemi gasser. !7 was tops for the mileage. It also was an auto with 4:11's. Fast truck but no low end grunt. I need grunt in a truck

3rd and present a 2500 04 club cab long bed 4x4 with the cummins diesel. On the highway I get 24mpg. Around town I get 18mpg. Also an auto with 4:11's. This is the best all around stump puller I need. I tow 6000 lbs like nothing and get 17 mpg @ 55. Plenty of grunt. I won't need another one for a long time.

all of the trucks have a live front axle...no short shaft and boots.

I have had other trucks in the past....no sence knocking them down......business is bad enough for them

    get the diesel...

    you won't regret it

I've got an '03 Chevy 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison combo and my buddy's got the same truck but an '04 and gas. He wishes he had got the diesel since day 1. I think I average about 7-8 mpg more than he does.
