I've heard numbers like 17.5% too.

It is all a smoke and mirrors show. The simple facts are that if they counted those who are truely unemployed, underemployed and those forced to take a meanial job instead of a good paying job it is about 18% and rising.

I believe you are about right,in my opinion.....private sector jobs are the ones most hurt,while government jobs increased, state and local.....(nj)

I would say somewhere between 17 to 21 percent would be pretty accurate.
