    Underwater video cameras

OK. I'm bored. Sittin here at the computer, tossin down a few cold ones while lookin out the window at an empty canal and dock.
Just read a thread about trolling for shark. I've heard about it before but didn't really consider it till now. New to fishing out of indian river so With any luck I'll be out in the spring searchin for lumps, holes, rocks or anyplace that seems fishy.
If I'm going to spend time runnin slow and searchin I may as well drag something behind the boat. Why not try for a thresher on the troll.
Heres where the camera comes in. Love to get some underwater video of a shark takin the bait.
does anyone use one or know about them ?
I've seen them from $100 to no limit.
some say can be trolled looking forward or back.

I have a seaview and wanted to run it off of my downrigger and get video of salmon...
It winds up being a logistical nightmare with cable all over the deck, you have to figure out a way to attach the video cable to the downrigger cable and any time the downrigger comes up you have to detach the video cable so you don't run it thru the downrigger pully!
A slip ring spool would help but only with cable management, not with rigging.
If anyone has more experience I would love to hear about it as I have kind of givin up on that part of it!

No need to. You can put it on a poal and stick it under water of clip it on the bill of your hat for "down the barrel" look or hold it in your hand for that matter...read on...

Aside from the logistics. How is the video quality.

The video quality is not to bad. I have the b/w model and the little tv that it comes with is reaally crappy. On a real 12" tv it is better than what they show on their website.
The thing is its a drop cam...there is no directional control over the camera when it is hanging by 40+feet of wire.
I am working on a way to solve these problems, I just got a little sidetracked last year with life...

As far as trolling and watching your spread it might work pretty well, If the camera could be trolled off a cleat or something and just let it out 'till you can see your gear. If it runs to deep just add to the horizontal wings and it will run shallower.

We trollway to slow up here, but the seaveiw is made in florida and set up for that kind of fishing. I did not get the Auqua-vue as I wanted 300+ feet of cable to drop it deep, and I thought this would work better. Its basically wound up being an expensive toy that sounded really cool...that I never use 'cuz its such a pain in the ass...I want an ROV!

They have drop cams and troll cams as well as standard rigger cams. Just buy his camera and get your own recording device.
