Now I pride myself on being "Mechanically Inclined" and fortunate enough the have decent problem solving techniques.
But for the freaking life of me I can not figure out how to work the damn grease gun. I’m using it to grease the bearings on my trailer.
Yes… Yes… it’s simple enough, insert the grease cartridge and release the excess air and start pumping. But for some reason it works sporadically. I’ll hang it in the garage for a couple days, allowing gravity to do its job, but still same intermittent crap.
I’m using a standard, nothing fancy, but decent grease gun (see pic below).
I’ll pull the arm all the way out and lock into place
Insert the grease cartridge
Re assemble and release the arm. Once it’s assembled... do I leave the arm extended? Or do I push it in?
I have been pushing it in… So what’s the freaking deal, Please help!
of course you pulled the plunger back and locked it as you took the pull-ring off of the end of the grease tube right. okay, moving right along...put the new cartridge into the gun (it sgould be obvious which way it goes in. now screw the lid back on and as you are releasing the plunger to go in, hold down on the air-lock/detent button you see on the end of the gun next to where the handle mechanism is. all air should be released at this point and then work the handle to acquire grease!
occasionally you may have to hit the air-lock release button in order to prim e it, but on rarity only.
ohh, you may push the arm in as you are hitting the button if you wish.
