Two thumbs up to Capt John(Admin) and CREW!!!!!!!!

I want to start a thread...probably won't catch on like Cardinal Joes threads but that's ok too...I don't know people here nearly as well as he does....but I want to take the time to thank Admin, his staff and the majority of the Sportfisherman.com members because this is one kick ass site!

The reason why I type this is because there seems to be a lot of negativity rolling around...and that's not why Admin and his crew put this together for us all to enjoy. You aren't going to please everyone...and not everyone is going to like each other...so for all the people who feel the need to stir the shit...I feel for ya because their isn't really any reasoning behind it other than to try to put yourself out there and bring yourself back into the elementary days.

People know each other here and have been friends for a while...they joke with each other...and they bust each others balls...that's a great thing...and it shows the "family" that is here. Just like family there are the distant people in your family you don't really care too much for but you "put up" with them because they are indeed family.

This site is unique because we the members do pretty much respect one another for the most part...and do police ourselves well, there are other sites where bannings are dished out more than dollar bills at a strip club...for those that warrant it....then great do so...but I've been coming on here and just recently(prior to the bix x-rated thread) just saw my first real "banning" take place and the thread was locked down...so Capt John lets things play out...and most of the time it fizzles out and goes away...he and his staff shouldn't have to be on guard and babysit this thing...I don't know the first thing about running a website...but I can gaurantee that no-one has the time to waste pulling the plug on some toolbags that can't control their urge to be the "winner" or put their last word in.

I haven't been here that long...but in the short time I've been here I have found some cool people to bs with and ontop of that have found some great information regarding the sport of fishing. Everyone is always learning, it just sucks some people still are learning how to be adults and communicate publicly without the chest poundning and the insults, but for me personally I try to look past that and take the good and leave the shit at the door.

I have stuck up for people in here and got into a crappy argument that shouldn't have taken place...but took the high road and moved on from it. This site is too valuable to disrespect it/the members and possibly get banned over a few sous individuals....

So enough ranting...Capt John(Admin) and staff who help put this together...thank you for putting up one of the best sites out there and keep up the good work!!!!

Hopefully the majority of the members will chime in with their thanks as well

chef you made a foundry point. Many members are friends and bust balls regularly. Other members see this or read this and take offence to it. If a thread does not pertain to a member or if you want to participate.......understand what is going on before sending a "I quit, dear john letter, to the staff.

I do not believe any member should change the way they type a thread or response in order to please the sniveling. Shit....in less than 24 hours the sniveling will forget the sour PM to the objective thread and be in another direction complaining in their busy lives. So in my worthless opinion.....the sniveling stay out of adult rated threads in the mix it up until further notice

I see this wonderful place as a neighborhood we all decided to call home. Sure, we have those we enjoy golfing with, the other group of guys we enjoy fishing with...the couple down the street we enjoy having over for dinner, then there's the crazy old lady who yells at everyone for not keeping on their side of the street...and we laugh. Sure, some of the kids "roll" her house from time to time, but no harm is meant, but man, the old bat really comes un-glued.

For what it's worth, I check my email first, and this site second when I sign on to the computer eachday. That says something about the community. Do I fish as much as I would like to? NO. Do I post up reports as much as I would like to? NO. Do I have WAY TOO MANY interests outside of just fishing? YES. Have I learned something from this site? YES, everyday. Have I made friends from this site? YES.

So... to my neighbors... "stay classy San Diego".

and CapeMayChef... give us single guys another "impress-her" dinner recipe. The pizza was a hit! Good, Cheap... and worked magic

ah yes....this guy Capt John..."aka the Admiral of SFC" does run a pretty tight ship. ...not some broken down derelict scow....yup....he can throw peeps in the brig or if it gets to the extreme...the dreaded courtmartial..... ...

Yup...all the drama...guess some missed the thread about a new addition to the SFC staff....to make the site even better than it already is.......well peek around the different forums and u may find out that she rides .....yup so much info on this site that so many overlook......again thank u el Admiral John....

I will say this until I am blue in the face.
SFC is the only site I have found that made this blind guy feel at home. The members have looked past one "disability" (the vision thing), helped me with my other disablity (finding a way to put fish in the box). So far no one has told me to take my kayak and go fish someplace else.

I don't get to use this site to its fullest. I can't see the video. Setting up my screen reader for articles and other things takes time, so I don't get to do it much. I end up relying on the forums for my information and fun. The members are the reason I am here. Plain and simple.

If Captain John and his staff didn't give the members as much freedom as they do, I would have to move on. Why? Because then I would feel as though I would only "see" what they wanted me to "see". (You know the type of site that only wants you to talk about a product that is advertised on the site and no other competetor's. Or talk the way they want you to talk.) This site allows for freedom of thought. They only ask for repect. Pretty cheap price in my book especially when so far I have been given respect by all in return.

So, yes, I thank Captain John for putting up with all the headaches, I can't imagine how many there must be with a membership as large as this site holds.

I also thank the members for making this a place I enjoy.

Great thread Cape May Chef. I myself have not been on here long but I enjoy my time here. It has been disappointing to see alot of the negativity and I hope the XXX thread airs out some of the hostilities. John and Staff, You have done a great job with this site and I appreciate all the time and effort you put in to improve the site each day. Keep up the good work.
