    TWIC???? WHO NEEDS IT.

Had a talk with the Coast Guard in Baltimore, and was told Charter captains did not have to have this card. It was for only the mariners entering a port that does not have an escort lead you into port and was a secured area. if this does not pertain to you and your port then you are clear and do not need a card. What have others heard about this confusing process. And if you do not get it before April 15th your current license is not valid????

I was told that if you did not have a twic card before the 15th '09 then your license would be suspended and you would have to go through the paperwork to have the suspension lifted. Check out twic.gov for all the info. I wouldn't chance it!!! All mariners holding Coast Guard-issued credentials. This was directly from there site.

I got mine. It's a stupid ass law if you ask me.

It's not just about the $$ (although it is another way to rip us off), I had to travel 100 miles to submit paper work then had to return 100 miles it activate the dam thing, lost 2 days work.

I don't even go into any ports Typical government bureaucracy at its finest.

I'd have to say you were misinformed unless the law was overturned. You need one with a six pack charterboat license any where you operate. Lakes, streams, rivers and the ocean.

Anyone that holds a USCG license needs one. Thats the bottom line, cause Homeland Security said so.
