Tv/Internet supliers

OK, I live on long neck rd in delaware.
Appears you get mediacom for internet, Not sure if there are any other options for internet.
Tv. there is direct satellite TV.
So, I have Mediacom for TV and internet.
Heres the deal,
have a hi def Tv.
Got a hi def box.
Need closed captions.
Pay extra for hi def tv and box but they only got 3-4 HD channels. Tv does not want to provide sound and picture with a non HDMI input.
Maybe my dumb but it is what it is.

Ok, In the last year I've had to call 5 times to support to get closed caption turned back on. Probably 3-4 hours on the phone easy.
NO, Its not the Tv it's the box.
Guy that installed it took a half hour to figure out how to make it work.
Great, Call tonight, OOPS, It's gone again.

Where did it go

Talked to a service tech that said it's in the TV.
NO HUN it's not. Reset the box just like they did the last 4 times and all will be well.
She got pissed, So did I,
Next thing I know I'm in canned music HELL.
That girl hung up on me.
They say calls might be recorded for quality assurance and
training, I really hope so cause I suggested she get a job
clerking at a 7-11 in delaware.

I called back and got someone else. Nice, helpfull,
Still aint got no words.

Got a service tech comming between 1-4 Thursday.
Cool, Another 3 hours wasted for something that should just work.

Question, Has anybody had experience with direct TV ?

HAd mediacom when I lived in the pines- HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH. It is not just you. I wish I could offer some solutions, but I can't. Since i moved to West OC and started dealing with Comcast I realized how truly bad mediacom is.

Depending where you are in Long neck you may be able to get the Verizon FIOS. This is the best system out there by far. I can't wait till they run the FIOS lines in my development so I can get rid of the Mediacom!

I'm a few miles away & we got rid of mediacom a year ago & went to FIOS. Never looked back.

Does mediacom still go out during a decent thunderstorm? Or randomly shut off for a couple hours every couple weeks?

We are right across Longneck Rd. from Joe and Verizon just put new fiber in this past summer. I would think that it is either in his park or soon to be installed.
