Tuesday Morning

Five years ago I joined my country in witnessing the most horrific sight that had happened on our own soil in history. My anger was at peak as the rolling tackle box carried me back home to comfort my family... It was a straight through run stopping only for gas...

Through the dark I tried to come to grips what took place and in my head I wrote a song. I arrived home in the wee hours, hugged mini and missus then penned the following...

We woke that Tuesday morning
Just another sunny day
Then the planes they hit the towers
And took our breath away
Silent we wathced them as they fell
And carried our hearts straight into hell
But through it all
We'll stand tall
Cause we're the USA

You can take our tallest buildings
And drop them into holes
You can wreck our nations cities
But can not reach our souls
Explain it best as I can
The misguides ways of a man
Talking to my kid
Bout what they did
But were still the USA

We're the world's greatest Country
From coast to windswept coast
We value the words of freedom
We cherish them the most
Out of many we are one
We can't quit til we are done
We'll right the wrong
Til terror's gone
Cause were the USA...

That song along with God Bless The USA kept Mini, Missus and I strong and fear free through those early days. We can never forget...

Just sitting here listening to Springsteen and his "The Rising" album... Its important to let ourselves travel back to that day. Not for some morbid desire to rekindle the pain. Rather to help our own healing and to remind ourselves that we can not afford the luxury of forgetting that day and our own blindness leading up to it... History repeats itself when ignored...
