The medial here is reporting substantial voter intimidation during early voting for the midterm elections. This intimidation is reported by voters who at polling stations principally in minority areas and it's been traced back to a particular organization called the King Street Patriots, apparently a reference to a colonial street in Boston where a good bit of the struggle for independence took place.
The charges are, essentially, that what voters have described as Tea Party activists have been put in place at the polls by this organization (which continues to recruit poll watchers, by the way) who have shouted down voters, made threats and verbally abused voters and, in general, intimidated voters.
Here's their website:

They have a disclaimer on the site which seeks to distance themselves from the actions of what they call "individuals" among their ranks who misbehave. But they don't have any reference to disciplinary action or punishment or dismissal of those who do.
So, I wrote them a letter and suggested that actions speak louder than words and that they needed to actively investigate any charges of voter intimidation and take appropriate actions to discipline the poll watchers or relieve them entirely.
My wife always votes early as her employer does not recognize voting days as a holiday and as her commute often prevents her from being at the polling station during the hours it's open. So, she'll be voting this weekend at our assigned precinct voting place.
Now, we don't live in a minority neighborhood. But we do live in a highly-Republican neighborhood (it's been the bane of our existence to have to listen to all the dead-headed propoganda regugitated from Rush's show for 23 years) and there have been some incidents in the past. So, I guess this year I'll go to the polls with her and take a video camera.
If there's one thing in the world that will get me into a lather in a microsecond, it's anyone intimidating, berrating or putting upon any member of my family. The hair's standing up on the back of my neck and my pulse has quickened and my blood pressure is rising just thinking of this.
We won't be intimidated by right-wingers, period. If they want a fight I'll give them one...immediately. I believe in the efficacy of direct, immediate action against cowards.
