Flat, just so you are not confused by Blackwell's discription of "chips", virtually all have multiple settings, from low to high. I went with the Edge EZ which is pretty tame as far as these things go. I selected this particular product because it was recommended to reduce the gear searching while towing ( it eliminated it for me). On the level 3 setting ( switch on the fly with a toggle switch) it will definatley smoke those rice rockets, but will not produce the black smoke you say you want. As far as I know, this switch on the fly feature of most chips is not possible with programers. I'm sure you are aware that the black smoke comes from excessive fuel dumped in the chamber and not burned.
There are several good products out there and if you do decide on a programmer the Bullydog seems fairly popular with the GM guys. BTW, apparantly none of the newer programers or chips increase pressure (that was the very first generation stuff).
I may not say this when it comes time for a major repair, but for now I can say I will never own a gasser truck again--- I love that freight train power and fuel economy.

On the computer talk for diesels Ive got a 2003 durmax I went with the banks six gun, they have been around awhile and at the time it gave more bang for the buck it also has attributes a guy like me needs. If it see's anything wrong it shuts down, egt and two other thing's i dont remember. I've read some guys talking about melting pistons and turbos I have never heard the engines doing any of that I stacked my programers I also have the hyper tech progamer I didnt belive you could "stack" until I race'd my brother with an 2000 durmax 4x4 crew cab when he was passing me his tires were squealin telling me that stacking gives alot more power. Now that I have stacked Ive not been beat trans am's ,mustangs, firebirds z28's In the 1/8 mile. I also kept up with a vette thru my third gear probably his first or second gear and then he burned me it was cool as hell. Ive got a 500.00 bet whith a guy up here at work that really thinks his new dodge charger r8 or rt1 im not sure what it called, is fast. I know its the hottest of the chargers hes going to have a big suprise. I'me going to try to get that race on video and post it. Remember the factory built the gas peddle to go to the floor thats where I keep it and Ive never had a problem.

thanks man.....I will have an interview with a ferd guy running a banks system on video real soon, The exhaust pipes rise from the bed and are slashed even with the cab height. Wait till you hear this set up. Sounds like a kenworth warming up for a run to missippi. First of the week I will get a vid clip on normal setting and then black face mode will follow. I think this is the exhaust I want but not sure of the module or modules to buy.

Mr. Fishy...I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you're more concerned with SOUND than you are with gaining alot of extra horsepower. Is that right?

I personally wouldn't recommend gutting your converter.

The old stand by around here is to simply get the muffler cut off and get a Y-pipe installed to run duals out the back. Have them put on 4" chrome extensions and you'll have all the sound you want. By leaving the converter in place it will act as your muffler. This system is pleny loud yet not obnoxiously loud. The best part is that it is CHEAP compaired to the kits muffler companies sell. You'll probably get away for under $200 labor and all.

    Whatever you do, have fun.

    Jay
