    Truck bed rod holders

I was thinking of building my own rod holders to haul the rods from the house to the boat. Ive seen the aluminum manufactured holders that mount to the toolbox, but for the price they are asking, ive decided to try and make one myself. Does anyone have any ideas or pictures of holders that they have seen that seem to work well?

    Rod Holders

Good timing on the question. I just got through build mine this weekend. Take a 4x6 or larger and cut to the width of your truck bed . Then cut to 45 degree angles for the legs. Attach legs. Get a section of 14 ft. 1 inch pvc pipe and cut to exact length of board. Get some pipe holders in the plumbing dept of Lowes or Home Depot and simply nail them over the pvc pipe attaching them to the board. Simply slide the rods in and now they ride in the back of the truck at an angle allowing you to haul any length rod you wish. Hope this helps

    Truck Rod Holder

I used 1 1/2" PVC and made a retangle that was as wide as the bed and on the foward side I used tee's spaced apart so the rods don't touch I also set them back at a slight angle so they are balanced over the center of the retangle I've been using this for years. mine will hold seven rods. I'll get a pic of it and post it

I took a 2x8 and cut it to fit my truck bedliner,I have the cheapo bedliner original plastic bedliner, you have to cut it at an angle to fit the bed tight. It's wider at the top that at the bottom, then I took 1.5 pvc pipe, and cut it to equals lengths,it comes in 10ft. sections( do the math) and spaced it it a 8 in. ctrs. using 1.5 electrical conduit clamps to hold it in place 2 per tube, and drilled a 1/8 hole in it and ran a wood screw in it so the gimbal would sit down on it.I offset the spacig from one side to the other( hope that makes sense) it works great and is cheap to build.
