Trout and Reds

Another good day on the water, this is the first time I can remember the ponds having so much bait. Trout and reds chasing the shrimp right out of the water. We were in about ft of water when the fish were chasing, we had a shrimp jump right in the boat, it was hilarious. Well the final count was about 20 reds, we kept 13 that looked like they need to meet the grill. Also about 50 trout but most of them were small so only 25 of them measured in the slot, the biggest was 20" and I had the bragging rights to him. We did manage to catch an all time first which was a tripletail. Does anybody know what the palatability is on this species? Anyway all in all a good day on the water.

I understand the triple tail is fine table fare. I personally have never caught or tasted one. Are they as good a fighter as I've heard? Thanks for the report. Sounds like a good day on the water. Holwachagot.

They fight very similar to a drum, this one once he saw the boat he tried like hell to get free. Some of the finest meat I have ever seen. I will tell you tommorrow when he goes on the grill.
