Anyone here have a 14 year old daughter? Well I do, & she is begging me to let her go out on a date with a boy that she likes. My reply is absoulty not! Not untill you are 16 years old. Now I am the worst Dad in the world. I need help!!!!!! Any suggestions?

I just went thru this last year! I told her there is no way in hell that you two are going on a date by yourselves. If your accompanied by either his parents or us then you can go. They weren't to happy at the time, but his parents also said the same thing. Well, needless to say they never went on the date. And imagine this they broke up shortly after that.

Thats a tough one tom. If you don't let em, they will probably just do it (date that is) behind your back. A prominent charter captain in OC told me a great story about his daughter and her first date. He took the young lad aside and said now is your chance. Anything you are planning to do to my daughter you need to try it first here with me. Coming from the imposing looking captain I bet it was an innocent first date.

Now i don't have that issue with alexa, she is a year younger, and i think she intimidates the boys, but tom here is the question, and im pretty sure i know the answers, did you raise her right, did you instill your values in her, did you teach her right from wrong. of course the answers are yes, so you are going to have to let her have alittle reign on this one. besides, im sure you got some SEAL buddies for covert recon.

Stick to your guns key-lime, but try not to be to forcefull.She can go accompanied by a parent (I saw Metallica that way!) then, if she insists on
continued visitation with this guy slowly.... VERY SLOWLY start backing off the parent drag. By slowly i mean between the ages of 14 & 16. i did'nt let my daughter get in a car with a boy till he had been driving for at least a year.You do have to let them go though and being a cool dad is sometimes tough. Try and communicate with the boy also. If he does'nt fish then he will have to learn (taught by you of course) or hit the road! I'm glad that part is over for me! Stay involved and interested, YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Keylime we were group,pubic place,with our prior approval of who the group consist of. Stick to your guns and be sure to tell the boys about how shooting people is okay but, you'd much rather cut somebody with your favorite knife! GOOD LUCK!

You guys are awesome. I think its the letting go part that hurts. I dont want any boy taking my place as the male figure in her life. I will talk to the boy and his parents. If she doesn't like it...well she'll have to learn that its her life and safety that I'm concerned with.

I went through this twice in the last 2 years. "It ain't easy" !!!!! they say. Well they are right. I had the skateas, the gangstas, and various other styleas. . The fellow had an interview as did his parents. I was the worst parent of all times, so I was told. My daughters waited till they were sixteen They are still alive and so am I A little more gray hair than I want. There is no secret spell if you are looking in that direction. It gets better when they go to college, Tom . I do not want you to think negative throughout these years. Your little girl is growing up. Grow with herUnderstand her. And both of you understand the number sixteen
